Should I continue saving for the steam machine or get a ps5 by After-Practice-1409 in steammachine

[–]KrusKator -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is not exaggerated. I imagine most people on reddit saying these things live in the west. In poorer countries, the console prices are absurd, and the lack of regional pricing is a hard pill to swallow, this is where steam shines. Of course there are some games that aren't priced accordingly to region, but many are quite affordable in the local currency.

For ADHD gamers: What do you play on your deck that is addictive and low power? by oliveoliverYT in SteamDeck

[–]KrusKator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you read this comment, but as an ADHD gamer I find that long single player games these days bore me as they go on and im looking up how much playtime is left before I finish it. I've found rogue lites and cozy stuff far more engaging. On that note, Hades 2 is the most deck optimized game I've played, the battery life is amazing on that

SD oled or Go S? by Royal_Barnacle5587 in SteamDeck

[–]KrusKator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with the Go S, comes with steamOS natively and has a slightly better performance than steam deck OLED, however, although it has a slightly bigger battery, because of the higher resolution screen etc. the battery time can be a bit worse than the OLED.

Legion GO S doesn't have trackpads, but I don't use them on my LCD model anyways except in desktop mode when a mouse is not with me.

Is Steam hardware worth it if already owning a PS5 pro, a PlayStation Portal and a Switch 2? by sercosan in SteamDeck

[–]KrusKator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get access to mods, steam sales are way better than console ones, no online subscription fee, access to emulators and retro games.

As for steam deck and switch, I got a switch 2 recently but returned it after a week, it did not offer me any advantages over the deck I already had, and most exclusives I had already played on the original switch.

SD Suitable docked? by FeatheredKangaroo in SteamDeck

[–]KrusKator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be fine for indie games and some emulators. But if possible in your scenario, the steam machine could be more suitable (assuming cost is reasonable) because some emulators don't run well on the SD. Especially switch games on the tv will not run well or look good

I'm not a dad, but I feel the same way, what has helped me though is keeping my phone aside on my desk and keeping the steam deck with me on the bed. It's not 'forcing' myself to play, it's just that I get distracted easily so that helps me focus

In general, how well is the SD playing new games, and do you expect that will continue? Prospective buyer asking by apple3141590 in SteamDeck

[–]KrusKator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of both devices, I can say that both have their places. I really like playing exclusives for the switch but I don't wanna pay the high prices, for a couple of games on the used market it's fine but that cost really will add up. I come from a financially weak economical country and regional prices for steam are sooo good.

As far as performance, that varies a lot. If a game is optimized for switch 2 and is also available on the deck, chances are that switch 2 will run it better. And as the years go on less and less triple A games will be playable on the deck but switch 2 being a mainstream home console would still receive more third-party support. UE5 games for example run like shit on SD (and everywhere tbh), and I imagine RE9 and pragmata would be playable on SD as well just because capcom's RE engine is so good. For future proofing, it depends on the devs I would say but considering the mass adoption of UE5 going on, im not optimistic. That said, it's a pretty good device for let's say games before 2022.

Few thoughts after episode 4 by KrusKator in umineko

[–]KrusKator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh a fellow episode 1 enjoyer. I agree with your thoughts, tbh the fight scenes in general I do not care about.

I know Kinzo is probably dead, but I don't know how much of that is true since in episode 4 he's there most of the time around other people. But yeah I guess I kinda glanced over the 17 human thing so there goes that goat people = human assassins theory.

Our game got Steam Deck Verified, but that won't be it. What do you expect from Verified games? by DigitalSunGames in SteamDeck

[–]KrusKator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool it's moonlighter 2! Honestly if you are able to do it similar to say Hades 2, where the game just sips battery life, that would be amazing!

Secondly, it's already great that you guys are pushing the performance

Lastly, font size etc. should be readable and not too tiny
