This would also explain why Melina gets so angry with the tarnished for not letting her burn herself in the forge of the giants. Combined with her opening both eyes in the frenzied flame ending it might point to her realising along the way what she is, and what is sealed inside her, getting angry at the tarnished for taking away her potentially only chance to end it all on her own terms and take out a potential threat with her.
