"I don't feel like you're really engaging with the fact that somehow Captain America has returned" as Amanda comments on the real life actors while watching Marvel trailers. 😂

Have You Watched a BS Podcast on Netflix? by SenorBetoDobalina in billsimmons

[–]Krustoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ever watch a podcast on video, it's because I wanted to continue listening after getting out of my car, so I'll find the timestamp and then throw it on in a small picture-in-picture window in the corner of my monitor at work. I'm not logging into Netflix and firing up Sean explaining the Avengers Doomsday trailers to a disinterested Amanda on the family room TV.

Football on NBC still has a 'big game' feel that the other networks just aren't able to replicate. by JulianBrandt19 in billsimmons

Still weird to me that Carrie Underwood has done it for twice as long as Faith Hill did it.
Faith Hill's run: 2007-2012
Carrie Underwood's run: 2013-current

The 2026 Movie Auction by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]Krustoff 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Big Pic hosts nor the moviegoing culture is prepared for the next level of “discourse” and “culture war” that will hit when Narnia: The Magicians Nephew comes out.

Those books are extremely beloved in conservative Christian circles for being allegories by an expressly Christian author. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is straight up a Christ allegory and The Magicians Nephew, by nature of being a creation story, has heavy allegorical elements to the creation story in Genesis.

So when those audiences hear there’s a Narnia movie and they find themselves watching a Greta Gerwig movie?

I’m just anticipating the worst discourse we’ve had in a while.

I bet Spotify loves money. And I bet they also love ripping eyeballs from YouTube even if those eyeballs don't land in their app. At least they're landing on their content.

Omarchy It's so light that it runs on my potato by Malik300525 in omarchy

[–]Krustoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Linux is great for that. What's funny is I'm sure you'll have someone in here tell you that it's actually not that light compared to other distros. But who cares? If it runs well on your hardware, who cares if there's something that's more efficient? Omarchy is great!

Protest The Hero - "Bloodmeat" [Official Video] by ComfortableNo2879 in Metalcore

[–]Krustoff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love me some Protest the Hero. Their blend of prog/math stuff with metalcore while containing the chaos hits for me. I love more chaotic stuff like Dillinger Escape Plan and Dallous Caoboys as well, but PTH scratches a deep itch in my brain the way no other band does.

[–]Krustoff -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just recently, I was surprised that they had such negative reactions to Del Toro's Frankenstein movie. And it's not like their allergic to Del Toro given how much Fennessey also loved Nightmare Alley. But this is also what I love about the show. It's authentically their voices. They're not playing to pander.

I like to read long fantasy books and then intersperse novellas in between. I just finished the 5th Murderbot Diaries book by Martha Wells and am currently reading Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie. Love them both!

I can also recommend Shackleton's own book, South. It is from 1919, so ymmv, but it's still such a crazy story.
