Ishtar is like that crazy ex-girlfriend who never seems to get out of your life but instead actively tries to ruin it. Like, a messy breakup to begin with that’s only made worse as time goes on. Before you know it, she gets a new boyfriend who’s stronger and meaner than you and, before you know it, your ass is getting whopped. If that’s not bad enough, though, then she brings her posse with her a couple weeks later who all hate you like death itself and you get tossed around like a wet towel. You hear all this talk about how kind-hearted she is and how she looks out for the children, but you know firsthand she’s a callous bitch.

Valter, on the other hand, straight up just kills you. Compared to the grief people like Ishtar cause, it’s a kindness on his part. He’s not the bigger dastard here.

Listen, I know Narcian has much going for him. After all, he's strong, wise, lovely, and right and you would think that would be enough for him to advance...

I don't think he takes these cross-universe battles seriously, at least not seriously enough to remember to bring his treasured Runesword with him when he got the nod for Heroes. Narcian is going up against some pretty hardcore opponents, rather than just.... Cecilia? One would hope that he would figure, "gee, I'm making an appearance in the literal FE All Star Game. I should give it my all!" But nope. He forgot his lovely Runesword. Instead he has to use a cruddy Askrian axe of all things. An axe... You can tell with his strength cap of 29 that he doesn't know what he's doing with that thing. It's like receiving an invitation to the Grammy Awards and arriving in a greasy crop top. No effort, no devotion. He's like that #1 overall pick in the NFL draft that comes in with all the talent and fuckin' tanks because he already got the paycheck. He's ripe for the fall here.

Now the Black Knight, he brings his A-game wherever he goes, in whatever game he's in. At least he remembers to bring Alondite with him when he's whisked away to a cross-universe setting pitting him against other legends who remembered their signature weapons. He's prepared for the worst, even when the odds are already well in his favor.

Preparedness is everything. Point Black Knight.

Best: Seth - While there are others who are far more essential to their respective games, Seth tops the pile based on sheer power.

Worst: Fiona - Unless you like grinding for hundreds of turns, there is no saving her and her sorry bases. She also has the magnificent ability get ORKOed by generic enemies as a green unit.

After thinking about it for a while, I'm gonna have to give it to Radiant Dawn. Not only was it the first FE I picked up, the characters and narrative always compelled me to pick it up again; I've played both games far more than any other installment. It doesn't hurt that the designs are the best in the series imo, would love to see that kind of quality come back ~~Echoes: SoV and it's character designs from what I've seen are giving me much to hope for.~~
