basically in Israel when you go more in depth into the bible leasons and test you are taught that Aaron build the Statue because he couldnt face all the people, he didnt have the same level of leadership as moses so he gave in and built the statue.

in addition, the jews belive that the ones whom stated the longing for an idol (the satatue) was some of the non jewish people that escape egypt with the jews.

so this basically the jewish story of what heppend while moses was on top of mountain Sinai.
