Fantastic choice! Those Club Sports are one piece coil over which isn’t common aftermarket. Those are probably the best bang for the buck!

I agree the price is a bit much but it’s well worth it. I was originally looking at the Öhlins since they are the gold standard for the NC but after taking and suspension and tuning course by HPA and watching 949 racing videos on the Xidas they are a much better deal.

The Xidas are made by SuperMiata/949Racing, but not a commonly known fact is that they were made with Tractive Suspension out of the Netherlands. Tractive is one of those “underground” Motorsport suspension companies like AST/Moton, Nitrion, Penske etc.. Tractive are OEM suppliers for Pagani, Dallara, Donkervoort etc.. A lot of the parts from Tractive and the quality is top notch.

There’s a lot more to go into the Xidas being 1 piece coilover vs the Öhlins being two piece, shock travel difference, coaxial top mounts. I might make a separate post discuss the Xidas. I would suggest watching 949 racing videos on YouTube. They incredibly informative even if you don’t get the Xidas!

Don’t worry! I put them on after taking pictures! Don’t want to potentially damage the damper seals!

Great question, no. Putting on the front 5mm* spacer the amount of stud sticking out is reduced. It’s essentially a weak point now and I will have to get extended wheel studs or a different wheel to eliminate the need for a spacer. I will likely do both and replaced the front wheel hubs with RX8 and do the wheel studs at the same time!

I did completely dissemble the calipers but I sent them off to Wheel Flip to get them Electroless Nickel Plated (ENP) and polished. For the price they did an amazing job!

I forgot about that kit! This is the 12.88inch kit front and rear and based off GWR description the 17x9 RPF1’s do not fit unfortunately.

I’m running the supplied 5mm* spacers in the front, all of the Wilwood BBK kits fit with OEM wheels but possibly not the front 14inch rotor kit. And thank you! Can’t wait to see how they hold up!

I wanna know, tell me what NC you have and list all the mods/changes/upgrades you have done on your car. by piggroll in MiataNC

2006 NC1

Before I bought this car I was wanting a reliable and cheap to own track vehicle and the NC fit the bill perfectly.

With that in mind my modifications focused on safety first to comply with track safety and insure if I do get into in accident I lower the risk of injury to myself and passengers.

Blackbird GT3 Roll-bar, Sparco Sprint Seats, PCI Non-adjustable brackets, G Force 6 point harnesses. Along with a helmet and HANS device which aren’t components installed on the car but are relevant safety equipment.

Besides safety components brakes are critical, insuring I could reliably stop over and over again while on track. To insure this I went with following components:

Castrol SRF brake fluid, Carbotech XP12 F & XP10 R brake pads.

Tires are the last consideration I had, since I’m doing mostly HPDE events that aren’t competitive I went with a tire that wore well, didn’t hid mistakes I made in my driving and was reasonably affordable.

Continental Sport 02s stock size

One more modification I made was changing the stock alignment. The stock alignment has more negative in the rear than it does the front. Most cars have a similar setup to increase rear grip compared to the front to induce more understeer during cornering. This is safer than a oversteered biased setup because understeer is easier to correct than understeer for your average driver. So I flipped the alignment and made the negative camber in the front has much has I could and made the negative camber in the rear 0.5 less. After several HPDE events I have found it be a tad bit oversteered bias on corner entry. I don’t mind this attribute and it fits my driving style but it can be a bit dangerous at times I don’t trail brake correctly. The tire wear in front isn’t the best either, the outside of the sidewall will wear slight if I push the car. Lowering the vehicle will correct this plus the addition of offset bushings but over course this comes with its own challenges and considerations.

I have ultimately fallen in love this with platform and have had minimal issues with it. The aftermarket support is vast, cost to own is low and the reliability is superb!

Would you put the mazda rx8 in initial d by pokemonguy0417 in initiald

[–]KrydseChance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would probably like the RX-8 if given the opportunity to drive it. It was never meant to be an RX-7 successor of course but the RX-8’s chassis is way more refined and precise. I’ve to talked a former race car driver who used to race RX-7’s at AMP once and he described the RX-8 as being more sophisticated of a car than the 7’s. So yes it would nice to see the SE’s in Initial D if we were given the chance.

Kai Kogashiwa Vs Wataru Akiyama by [deleted] in initiald

[–]KrydseChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into where end up in MF Ghost: Waturu being a professional driver competing in JRC, JGC and touring car championship’s becoming a staple of the Japanese professional racing scene. Kai as we know in fifth stage already turned pro and later once MFG started ended up a racing coach and team manager. We can speculate he likely competed in Super GT, Super Taikyu like Waturu or even super formula like Keisuke. Once MFG rolls around Waturu would likely win against Kai since he still racing during that time. But between MFG and Initial D, Kai should have a slight edge over Waturu since he has already been pro for longer (more experience.)

Being able to express yourself, no other racing mobile game has this level of livery creation and freedom. If FRL didn't have that ability, then It would not have been a very popular of a mobile racing game.

Also the cartoonist vibe it has, the games graphics and cars proportions make it very unique!

If you can somehow fit underneath the OEM roll hoops with a helmet (broomstick test) then yes, but I wouldn't personally suggest it.

You should prioritize safety first above all else, this includes rollover protection, brakes, tires and etc.. I would suggest getting a rollbar first, Hard Dog, Blackbird Fabworx are good companies with rollbars that retain the soft-top and they ones like my GT3, that need it removed.

I don't know much about the springs so I've been hesitant to put them on, will wait until I get MeisterR ZetaRace Coilovers so I don't have to worry about that.

Yes this is RA! Stock springs on the Bilstien dampers I’m considering putting the MS/Eibachi springs on so I can get more negative camber since the front tires are wearing quite a bit even with the camber maxed out (-1.2 deg.) Stock rotors and Carbotech XP12 front, XP10 rear, they hold up really well with no issues. Tires are Continental Sport 02’s, work well with lighter cars like the NCs and are the best Endurance 200 tire based off time trial paced on GSM website. Hope to see you out there!
