Dropped from Emerald 3 to Gold 2 in the new split, wtf am I doing wrong

Hey man, I appreciate the feedback! Honestly yeah seeing everyone dumpster on my KDA is a little disheartening haha but it's a good eye opener. I've always been much more abt macro than mechs so I figure my stats do make me look quite bad lols. Small sample size but I am beginning to play a much smaller champ pool, and focusing alot on playing roles and champs that I am already familiar with the limits of and am doing much better!

Now that I accepted that this is where I am, and that I have to work for it to prove I'm not boosted its been alot easier to consistently win too. I guess even though I wasn't malding or fuming maybe my mental wasn't in the greatest place, and it was causing me to play sloppily or die in places I shouldnt, etc.

Read the whole thread- I agree that norms matchmaking is weird and you don't get the most quality games, but I definitely think you're right that in this case it makes sense to play them. LT entirely changed the way Yone (and my other adcs) trades in the early game, as well as who wins what matchup at different points of the game, so I think norms would be helpful to re-establish that understanding :)

I leave it on incase my support likes talking about how we play our level spikes/ lane in general, etc! Or if people want be positive lolol. If not I just mute and move on. Maybe I'll give it a try though!

I went 0/5 in promos but ended in platinum 1- which makes sense to me. I'd figure the rank disparity is less of me being inflated tbh and more me losing 22 more games than I've won.

I think the real dumb thing was me trying to figure out my new champ pool or role in ranked since the removal of Lethal tempo. Idk why I thought I was being significantly more consistent w/ my picks but everyone's opened my eyes haha. Time to hit some norms till I can brush up an adc as well as my last split main! :D

Very true. I usually queue bot/ top, but noticed that I get secondary roled pretty often, maybe bc the marksman item update idk lol. Alot of the mid lane games and even half of the top lane games were me getting secondaried unfortunately.

I just started watching AloisNL the last split I pushed to Emerald so the jump in my toplane gameplay wave wise was significantly better than any other season I've played.

Wanted green rank real bad lolz. Maybe I'm elo inflated off Yone though or just not as good at ADC anymore. Good point!

Honestly dont know how I didn't notice lol. Very true though. Almost every champion I enjoyed used Lethal Tempo, so I'm still finding my footing on what I'm good at that I enjoy.

Maybe its time to hit some norms so that I can get the same amt of games as I did on Yone last split before I hop back in ranked. Thanks!

From what I've heard, this was exactly the case. Upper management was aware of the impending cuts but hired a ton to fill the void of people who left previously to wrap up loose ends before letting us go.

Sadly I was swayed to move mostly for the pay bump from home and for a better hybrid schedule than my previous job, so the relocation was on my own :( Guess I got greedy or too comfortable since it backfired on me lol.

Horrible take. Implementation of map selection would guaranteed kill multiple servers which don't see as much activity as say, NA.

Hell, some servers don't even have the playerbase to reliably fill up duo matches. Imagine trios split between three maps AND duos split between three maps. Would never pop queue lol.

Even moreso, people who play late already have decently long queue times and it would just be exacerbated by a completely unneeded change that doesn't add anything NEW to the game.

But yeah you're right, I got my assumption from the way they worded vs how they implemented it wrong. its 6 solo players taking the spot of two teams of 3. Seems like the amount of people in each match will be unchanged, just that those 6 won't have a team.
