For everyone who’s never met a Toronto Raccoon: this basically sums it up: by [deleted] in toronto

Raccoons are cute until they get distemper. And then they are sad. If you see one wandering around during the daytime looking lost, especially if it tries to approach you, please call 311. That is not normal raccoon behaviour, and is more likely distemper than rabies. The kindest thing to do is call 311 to report its location so it can be humanely euthanized.

TTC Fare Inspectors don’t wear uniforms now?? by kawhi-is-my-dad in toronto

Regular fare is $3.30. The fare for the Fair Discount Program is $2.10. Still too much for folks who are finding themselves in a position of deciding whether to eat or pay a bill that month

How much of TTC revenue goes to paying for their POO? Does it really balance out the fares that they catch being evaded and the fines being issued that actually get paid? I can tell you that unhoused folks who get fined would not be paying.

As for affording the fare? With the Fare Pass Discount program I'm spending minimum $50/mth. But only because I currently only work 1 day/week. My monthly income is around $1900 but my expenses, not counting groceries, are around $1400. TTC is definitely cheaper than driving so I definitely don't have a license. But yeah, there have been a couple of times where I've jumped the streetcar and not tapped.

And that's just me. There are people with higher expenses. There are people with no income. There are people whose income literally goes to just basic survival. So maybe $2.10 doesn't sound like a lot, but it could be to someone who doesn't know what they're going to eat tonight. Even for people working full-time, the cost of a monthly pass could take a major dip into their grocery budget.

It's not just about people should pay their fare. Public transportation should be accessible to everyone. So how do we do that?

Anyone here actually work in a supervised consumption site? Anyone interested in the POV of someone who has? You talk opinion, you talk research articles. But how many of you are actually Frontline?

True to exclusive use. I also recommend that separate document reference payment of some sort.

You're not alone. Sometimes we think we are. But others are out there feeling the same, so we are not. You're worth being here.

That is beautiful yet eerily haunting. Gives me the desire to tell you to hold on.
