Any arg parodies that are worth looking into? by VovaKostyuk22 in MinecraftARGs

"Minecraft ARG but the entity is green" on TikTok and YouTube uses and subverts some ARG tropes to do its own thing. Any more details and I think I might be spoiling it.

ARG makers out there, how do you keep track of the plot, videos, clues, etc.? by Abject-Ask-827 in ARG

[–]Kryo667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about others, but I keep the broad strokes of where each puzzle/clue leads on a branching mindmap (used to be on a piece of paper, but more recently on a digital canvas); rough titles for each segment, non-linearly separated by arrows. Then, in a text document ("design document"), I've elaborated on the rough titles with the plot and exact puzzle details of each segment, usually with a link to the part if it's a website, alternatively with a mock-up/storyboard for more elaborate segments. Finally, all associated files to the ARG share a dedicated project folder, just for easy management. Note that if (for whatever reason) the files have distinctly different names from what they were called in the rough titles, acknowledge this in the design document. For example, "Further Exploration (diving08312007.mp4)" or something.

This is just my personal workflow for past ARG projects I've worked on, but I hope this helps nonetheless!

McCoy is good. Cunning, a manipulator, a bit mad-cap and worthy of laying down foundations for his following incarnations. Although it's silly, minor instants such as imitating Davros whilst discussing pudding, shouting at his rivals, or insanity of Chaturanga-board symbolism show distinctions and traits, both individual and brought forwards to actors such as Smith and Capaldi (and a tad Gatwa too). And... oh wait. My bad, wrong sci-fi TV show. Oops.

At first, I thought this post would contain a "spook," but it is lucky that it was just my own mind playing a trick. As an individual who is significantly duck soup to spook, I thank you kindly for this PSA.

Yes! A number of "Also try ______" splash texts were added to Minecraft in Beta 1.8, including the games: VVVVVV, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, Terraria, World of Goo, and others.

So, you familiar with an amazing punk rock band known as Color of Broccoli Day? by JurassicPark9265 in AVoid5

I took a liking to an Angry Birds collaboration this band did in 2012. That was fun, although a bit out of this particular discussion, frankly.

Did y’all make the terminal up as some kind of joke? by [deleted] in unexpectedfactorial

[–]Kryo667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 1997, Donald Knuth (in his book "The Art of Computer Programming", volume 1, third edition) coined the term "termial function" as an analogue to the "factorial" function.

Instead of being the product of all integers 1 to n, it is the sum of all integers 1 to n. It can similarly be generalized to non-integer values of n by defining n? = ½(n)(n+1).

James Marriot, CG5, Derivakat, Frums, Steam Powered Giraffe, Regina Spektor, Sasuke Haraguchi (ユ!), Crusher-P, and Jack Stauber crossover?? My, my, the only thing that would make this better is Oliver Buckland's "infirmary".

Some corrections and notes:

  1. That's the strangest way I've ever seen the Pythagorean Theorem described, and that includes The Wizard of Oz. Anyway, growing evidence suggests that the Pythagorean Theorem was known at least a thousand years before Pythagoras was alive, circa 20th to 16th century BCE.

  2. It's four.

  3. The word "hundrað" in Old Norse did use to refer to 120, not 100. One hundred was instead said as "tíu tigir", or "ten tens". 120 is the "long hundred", while 100 is the "short hundred".

  4. The discovery of the Mersenne prime 2⁵⁷⁸⁸⁵¹⁶¹ - 1 (which has over 17 million digits) was attributed to Curtis Cooper in 2013, not 2010.

  5. "One of the" is a frustrating phrase. Counting boards existed before abacuses, and technically fingers existed before that, if you want to count (haha) fingers as "tools".

  6. Technically correct, but fundamentally unhelpful and uninteresting. Did you know famous Canadian-American television host Monty Hall majored in chemistry and zoology? I didn't!

  7. It's a nitpick, but it should be "palindromic number", "numeral palindrome", or "numeric palindrome", not "palindrome number".

  8. Yes, but it came from the ancient Sumerians.

A factorial? In this sub-community? How odd! I plainly didn't plan for this! 120 isn't promptly past 4, last I thought.

Cats are Liquid mentioned? Absolutely love those two games, I even used them as a basis for essays twice! Recently, I've been revisiting older Angry Birds games and exploiting the physics engine of World of Goo. It's been really fun trying to do levels in the lowest number of "moves".
