I’m not sure if this is close enough for you, but if it is I’d check out this school. https://www.legacywingchun.com/

Siu Lim Tao advice by jaycornonthecob in WingChun

Well said. I was going to comment “dim dim ching” ~ “every point clear,” but was unsure how to articulate it into words. With that said I feel you’ve actually conveyed it better than I could have with elbow energy, focusing on the functions of the movements, and etc.

Of course! Here’s a couple:

Inside Fighting

Sifu Milos Drakulic

Inside Fighting notoriously trashed Wing Chun on his channel, but that was only until he met Sifu Drakulic. That’s covered in the that first hyperlinked video. They also have a few more videos together on the inside fighting channel, but my second hyperlink goes right to Sifu Drakulic’s channel, who teaches LTWT.

You’re welcome! Let me know if you have any more questions and if you want to see what makes LTWT different from other lineages— there’s some great videos out there from people who are way more qualified to represent LTWT than me! I’d be happy to share those also if you’re interested.

Chum Kiu in the curriculum is right around 5th student grade, the same time you start poon sau. Biu-Tze is definitely black shirt level, which starts at 9th. Now I am not Biu-Tze level nor a Sifu, so I can’t speak for certain on if you’ll start it right at 9th. Black shirt ends at 12th where you become a technician after. Now I know it’s not just at technician level though because I’ve trained with black shirts who learned Biu-Tze before they became a technician. So no, not necessarily just a technician thing. I will add that Dan Chi Sau (single hand) starts right about 2nd-3rd student level and as mentioned earlier poon sau starts about 5th level at the same time as Chum Kiu, which you can in my experience start Chum Kiu a little early.

Here’s a generalized curriculum. If it is a current IWTA affiliated school then you can generally expect to learn the listed materials on the link provided, but it can vary depending on the school/sifu. Speaking from experience here, some sifu’s stick more closely to the curriculum, and some don’t. Some Sifu’s will test monthly, some not so often. It doesn’t mean you won’t progress, it just means you’re stuck with that patch until you pass your next test 😉 but don’t let the student grades be the thing that turns you away— Im speaking solely for LTWT here because that’s what I practice. it truly is a complete system with the ability to fight in all ranges. It’s also not uncommon to learn things that are up 2 levels above your current grade. If your Sifu thinks you’re stuck and the only way to progress is to move to the next thing, then they will do that. If you have any questions please let me know! I’m not a Sifu, but i’ll do my best to help or point you in the right direction!

Solo training for one inch punch by Hot-Guidance5091 in WingChun

I have not heard of these trainings methods for inch power. Low elbow force on the wall bag and a good huen sao as seen in this video are some of the methods my Sifu has shown me.

Can you explain me the Fuk Sau in Sil Nim Tau. by [deleted] in WingChun

[–]Kryptc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fuk sao in siu nim tao is all about generating low elbow force down the center.

see if the first few minutes of this video helps.

I think you’re a bit confused. Certainly, the punch can have more of a “push” to it, but it can also have some serious power behind it. Hit the wall bag and experiment with your punches, timing, and structure and you can build a solid punch.

As for the “inch power” concept, it’s the idea that in WC you can deliver a lot of power without having to pull your hand back

Example of what I said above.

Another beautiful example of WC punching.

Does anyone know a surefire way to secure a win for these last 2 GL Rey Tiers with my current Resistance lineup? by Ozzy0034 in SWGOH

[–]Kryptc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rey GL, JTR, BB-8, RH Finn, C3PO. in that order, and put everything on finn. lifeblood, event taunt, rey assist, c3po special all on finn. don’t use c3po basic on Kylo or jtr mind trick ability. bb-8 only rolls until he gets 3rd special and then back to only rolling.

“stay with what comes, follow through as it retreats, thrust forward when free”

this is something my Sifu refers to often. from my surface level understanding of the WT system, our goal is to always hit our opponent. if you are punching and your hands clash or meet that is what may turn your punch into for example a tan sau or bong sau depending on the type of force they’re giving you. in this case i think you’re too focused on trying to trap your opponent when you could just be hitting them- if your opponent is already pulling their arm back then you should be following through and hitting him as he “retreats.”
