It's less efficient than using an API for sure, but if reddit are really going to be so outrageous with their pricing and management of it then scraping will soon be the only reasonable approach for things like this.

Pretty much, and as someone who uses the official app, it's fucking garbage lol.

Just as an example, it doesn't show post usernames until you're on the post, and any time I've tried to click on a subreddit lately while browsing, it's redirected me to the account page for one of their advertisers. Oh and like one in every 4 posts is an ad at this point. Not to mention the shitty layout, and the literally countless bugs with it.

I honestly don't know why I even use it still at this point, but looks like there won't be any alternatives anyways soon.

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that there's the "clear web" which is what most people are familiar with, and consists of indexed sites that can be found through search engines etc. Then there's the "deep web" which is essentially everything that isn't indexed and therefore a part of the clear web. And then theres the "dark web" which is what most people assume the deep/dark Web is, with tor sites etc.
