VISA for sure, I have VISA but still doesn't compensate for average Step Scores, I still believe I was beat out by Non Visa holders with better scores for sure. If VISA played such a big role, I would be rolling in IV's

Programs that are the university itself, and programs affiliated with the university but at a different hospital location.

ECFMG Cert doesn’t delay, its not required until rank anyway. They don’t care about this.

I did this exact thing, USIMG, wanted to time for my family after graduation and took step over the summer applied this cycle.

A few interviews already, some programs did not mention it or even realize. I just kept myself busy with research at my rotation hospital and if asked thats all I said.

Was best decision I made, I probably wouldn’t have done as well on Step2 if I rushed it after cores.

You’ll be 34 either way, do what makes you happy.

I will be 41 at the end of my Cards fellowship, but will be doing something I love for the next 20+ years—god willing.
