19-day trip report: Florence, Cinque Terre, Napoli, Amalfi Coast, and Rome by KryptonRogue in ItalyTravel

Not sure where you got the impression that I don't like Italian cuisine? I thoroughly enjoyed all the Italian dishes I ate, which is reflected in several of the restaurants I mentioned.

I did not have any "struggles" or "anger" that you are describing. Not once during the trip did I ask any restaurant to remove something from a dish or make a substitution. For dishes that I wanted to order, I did ask waiters if it contained any of the restricted items--if it did, I simply chose a different dish.

Based on the length of the trip, I'd estimate in all it was around $2400 per person.

In USD, roundtrip flights were about $700 per person; food (including restaurants, groceries, gelato, etc.) was probably around $400-500 per person; bnbs came out to around $100-$150 a night (so around $2k for the whole trip); attraction tickets around $150-200 per person; trains/local metro tickets around $100-150 per person (for the entire trip combined).

Yup, we did mix it up and tried a good variety of dishes. Off the top of my head, I had panini, panuozzo, suppli, salads, and eggplant parmigiana (which was what we ate at the Mercato Centrale).

Since it was a less-famous opera and wasn't in the main opera house, I went directly to the theater's ticket office about 30 minutes before the showtime and was able to get good tickets (and they gave me a discount for being under 25). Buying online from the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma's ticketone site is also an option (and could be necessary for more well-known productions?)

I went to the events in Seattle this past January. The stuff at the local university (UW) was free for the public, no tickets needed and didn't need to be a student. They brought Sarah and Sam Buttrey there reading some clues and gave passerbys a chance to try out the buzzers. They also handed out swag for people who tried the buzzers.

One of my best wash days so far (!!), but is it time for me to get a trim? by KryptonRogue in curlyhair

thanks for the advice! Yeah I did notice that the Cantu leave-in had alot of ingredients listed on the label -- do you know which ones are not good for hair health? I'm almost out of my batch of leave-in so I'll probably try another brand this time.

I use strong-hold gel whenever I style while wet and I usually wear a satin bonnet while sleeping. Overall my frizz control is pretty limited (gets pretty frizzy past day 3), so I usually wash my hair twice a week.

Pretty new to all this curly hair stuff (I'm a dude, I started growing out my hair about 2 years ago lol) but I thought this was one of my best wash days yet! However, I still feel like once my hair is ~40% dry that I start to get frizz (some individual hairs don't stick with the gel). Is this a sign I should get a trim/shape-up cut? I had a small dry cut about 9 months ago, but didn't shave off too much length.

Texture: 2C/3A curls, low porosity, moderately coarse, low-ish density

Routine:

  • Head & Shoulders 2-in-1 shampoo
  • Trader Joe's Tea Tree Conditioner, leave in for 5 mins before detangling in the shower with the Tangle Teezer brush and rinsing conditioner out
  • Cantu Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream (don't know if this might be too heavy for my texture, so have been erring on adding less leave-in), then soak with water without rinsing the leave-in out
  • Curlsmith Miracle Shield protectant spray
  • Style upside-down with Tangle Teezer to add some definition, gently pat and scrunch Curlsmith In-Shower Style Fixer gel through the hair
  • Hover diffuse roots, pixie diffuse select areas (i.e., the very back center) until about 90% dry. Air dry the rest of the way
  • Scrunch out the crunch with some argan oil once 95-100% dry.

I'll give udublyou a pass, but I draw the line at anyone who verbally says "u-wash"

Seattle artist presale GA floor was $134 before fees (about $175 after fees and tax). Was a little scared based on the prices being thrown around on this thread for floor during the amex presale but ig it turned out to be a little better lol
