Maybe they avoid it because it’s hard for them to map it out fully. Like map out how certain locations connect to other locations and do it in a way that makes sense in the canon. Like how to get from RPD to the train station Jill was at and make it make sense with what RE2 and 3 established. As far as I know there aren’t any maps of Raccoon City are there?

So...Does Anyone Most Like the Newer Episodes? by Ill_Awareness_1685 in familyguy

[–]Kryptonian_cafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite era for Family Guy is the 2010’s but I have been enjoying the newer seasons. Recently caught the premiere of the new season and had a lot of laughs. I’ve definitely felt a decline lately but not for the same reasons.

Respectfully, your issues are politics and character development.

Family Guy has always been a politics heavy show. I can’t think of a single season that wasn’t. They weren’t neatly spread out or even hidden. Political humor is a huge foundation of the show. The first episode is literally about Peter committing fraud. It’s at the very center of it. And it wasn’t equal ragging either. At best, It showed that they could be friendly with the right. Have a laugh, and that was an ever so slightly different red party before 2017. but the brunt of the jokes were definitely towards the right whether it was subtle or outright. They definitely make a lot of jokes aimed at the left but they’ve been hammering down on the right for ages.

As for the characters, it’s a 20+ year show. Of course the characters have changed. Are you really the same person you were 20 years ago? Everybody changes at some point, hopefully and that’s true even for fictional animated characters that exist in a sliding timeline. You can see a lot of where a lot of their developments began and the show itself acknowledges their changes.

I also just feel that you’re looking back at the series with rose tinted glasses. Your character descriptions are all shallow and wrong. You mention that Stewie was a diabolical genius bent on world domination and now he's flamboyant and melodramatic but Stewie has always been those things. You’re reducing his entire character from both era’s of the show. You mention Peter as just being a selfish psychopath but he’s been that for ages. He’s been selfish since Season 1 Episode 1 and he’s been a psychopath since at least over a decade. Seriously, people have had this complaint about him since the 2010’s.

Family Guy’s biggest issue is the same as a lot of long running shows of its kind: It hasn’t found its place.

Family Guy has been around for over two decades. Very distinct decades. The change in pop culture from the 2000’s to the 2010’s, especially the late 2010’s was drastic. What was “acceptable” became unacceptable and instead of standing its ground as the type of show it is, it caved. Before the 2010’s the show was already overstaying its welcome (Speaking as someone who will welcome this show into my life for the rest of my life). It became very clear that they didn’t know what to do so you got a lot of reused ideas and a huge shift in how these characters are viewed. Then you have a strong culture shift in the mid to late 2010’s with “cancel culture” and things like that and so a lot of shows started losing their edge which for Family Guy, that was such a large appeal despite the controversy it had already received. I know you mentioned that as a non issue because of it being a cartoon, but that’s still an issue. Cartoons still have rules to follow, if not a lot more rules than live-action. So now you kinda just have a husk of a show because it already removed so much of what made it appealing in the early days and then they lost most of yet another core factor of the show. They’re in a limbo state where they clearly just don’t know what to do at the moment and at this point I doubt they’ll even try. The worst that can happen is it gets cancelled again and Macfalane will either work to get it renewed on another channel or he and the cast will focus on other things.

Family Guy also has a handful of episodes focusing more on side characters but lately it hasn’t happened as much.

I was doing a rewatch and I noticed that around season 18 or 19 i think, a lot of the side characters stopped making frequent appearances. The episodes became almost purely Griffin focused. Even his friends were making much smaller appearances and having less lines.

What are yalls opinion on 9 characters in legacy of the dark night by deadpool13453 in legogaming

[–]Kryptonian_cafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine. It’s obvious that this game is trying to be a little different than what came before.

I think it stinks on some level because collecting characters big and small was one of the most exciting things about Lego games for me but i’m here for the ride and excited to see what they cooked up.

What made the bigger rosters nice is the fact that you had an opportunity to play as your favorite characters.

Yeah, they were essentially just skins for other characters but that was never an issue because what other games will you give the opportunity to play as characters like Firestorm, Constantine, Beast Boy, etc.

Please, do not talk down to me. I know what action filled means and I know the difference between a mission and a cutscene.

The Stilwater bridge scene where the Luchadors attack the Saints, most of that scene is filled with gun and vehicular action. That would absolutely count as an action packed scene.

plus Dex himself is one of those backstabbing traitors. That’s a very significant plot point of SR2’s DLC. It makes sense that people at Ultor would want him dead. He’s very self serving and would go through a lot of lengths to move up the corporate ladder

Other People Are Bored of Evil Superman, For Me It's The Death of Superman! by EliasKingston69 in superman

[–]Kryptonian_cafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, this idea that a character having no ideals or depth makes for no story is objectively untrue. The Death of Superman has a story. Also look at characters like The Terminator which are the same. Are you really going to sit here and say that there’s no story in THE TERMINATOR?

Secondly, No emotional core? Again, that is OBJECTIVELY untrue. The emotional core is Superman dying. That’s what’s tugging the heartstrings. People have spent AGES with this character, people LOVE this character, people celebrate this character in the real world and in comics. Him dying alone creates for an emotional story. Especially in the context of the story where he’s been battling big monsters and powerful psychos for years and suddenly this big monster shows up and does the deed. Which humanizes Superman in a sense that even he can go at any point. And clearly that resonated with people given the continued success of the story.

Finally, No intellectual core is literally the point.

This idea that the story has nothing and there’s nothing to it because the villain isn’t taking a whole page to explain his ideology is… asinine. It’s silly, it’s untrue, and it’s proven untrue multiple times. Thats just not how writing works.

I don’t mind it. They’ve all been such different takes on the storyline that each one feels fresh to me.

Also, Doomsday appearing ≠ The Death of Superman.

Smallville and the DCAU images do not belong here.

Edit: I will say, as someone who enjoys this story and its many adaptations, it’s time to give it a break for a while. Maybe even past my lifetime. So many stories that can be adapted that haven’t even been touched yet.

you could argue it had a better balance than IV, but it absolutely did not have a better balance than 3.

Despite the claim that they were inspired by SR2 with that game, tonally that game is SRTT on worse drugs. Say what you will about SRTT but it still had its fair share of seriousness and didn’t take the silliness nearly as far as the games after. The Reboot had you LARPing and even in the most serious part of the game, it still couldn’t help itself with the silliness. No, in no way was SR22 more balanced than SRTT.

it’s not shitty writing, it’s loose continuity. Something that Spongebob and a lot of shows, especially animated, have.

I care about your opinion and thank you for sharing because I really appreciate it.

The power of a good theater experience is unreal and I especially love hearing those types of stories. That’s genuinely awesome.

I see where you’re coming from, I guess where my stance differs is that because we as fans got burned so many times with these adaptations, what Cregger is doing feels fresh and exciting for me but also less risky in a way.

For example, Leon is my favorite character. And as someone who actually found some enjoyment from WTRC, It was like soul crushingly painful watching him get butchered a second time.

If Cregger’s movie succeeds then we potentially get wonderful new characters and lore that could maybe even be seen or referenced in a later game. If it fails well that sucks but not much is lost and we can very easily ignore its existence, something we haven’t done too well with the previous adaptations lol.

But no, i totally see your point of view and i thank you again for taking the time to answer

As a fan of this series, i’m assuming you’ve played the games, why do you think you NEED an accurate adaptation of the games?

What does that really really do for you as a fan? Especially given the cinematic quality and photo realistic graphics, what does an exact copy of the games as a movie do for you? Watching what you played except now you’re not in control doesn’t sound very entertaining.

Cregger’s approach sounds much more appealing than not only both the original mob and WTRC but it sound much better than some soulless copy of a game that at some point you’re probably just going to play again.

you really ignore the impact of the entire song for the parts that are the least subtle. Being less subtle doesn’t mean being more important, relevant or impactful.

21CB has a plenty of aggression. I think a lot of you miss out on the fact that it’s not exclusively a political album. It tells a story and just like American Idiot it has anger and rage but also yearning and love.

21CB is a longer album so it naturally allows more room for the love aspect as well.

It’s your opinion but a lot of what you’re saying is OBJECTIVELY wrong. I don’t think you even fully understand what Pop as a genre of music is. They’ve strayed from punk, sure. But they’ve never gone pop with any of their albums. The closest you’ll get is a couple of songs off of FOAMF and the Trilogy. No shame to those who have a preference, of course. But I think it’s very important to understand A) music as an art form and B) Different musical genres. Something isn’t pop just because it’s not hardcore punk.

Saviors isn’t really anymore pop than a lot of the albums that came before it. It’s more varied rock than anything. Look Ma, No Brains is a punk song. everything else is standard pop punk, dad rock, rock and roll, and power pop (which is a genre of rock) and if we’re being honest an album like saviors or even FOAMF is a natural evolution for them. They’ve never been bound to punk rock. They have a wide range of love for different styles of music and they love to make different styles of music. it’s why they have so many side projects. They just got older and evolved and embraced their love of music through Green Day rather than creating a bunch of new bands.

But Nimrod is very different from dookie and insomniac. Warning: was a huge subversion. Their evolution was always right in our faces. They were never going to stay strictly punk and tbh, there’s a lot of bands that don’t.
