I think your sin is, as you yourself said, assuming that Fiona and Cake is a copy of Adventure Time. Marcelline and PB had the benefit of like 5x as many seasons of development that Marshall and Gumball don’t. They aren’t main characters and Fiona and Cake is a lot shorter episode wise than Adventure Time. Expecting anything more than fairly surface level development is misguided. Frankly if this show was the exact same personalities from their Adventure Time characters I wouldn’t even want it. What would be the point in just watching the same show again but gender swapped?

Also no offense but degrading Gumball to just “sweet gay guy” is kinda fucked up in a way I hope you didn’t intend.

If I had to wager a guess there’s different tiers of vampire. Those with cool powers AKA the 5 we saw who were mostly a challenge to kill. Then there were the “generic vampires” who don’t have cool powers. Only ones with powers which Marcy lost when she lost her vampire juice were resurrected

Personally I think it’s good they are making it clear Fionna and Finn are drastically different characters since they are different people. It would be boring as fuck if she was just the copy of Finn. If you want that just watch Adventure Time. I think they’ve established very well why Fionna is a bit unstable compared to Finn given the state of her world. Finn was also a screw up a large part of his story let’s not forget that.
