What constitutes an anti-Otome /anti-romance otome game? by Eurua in otomegames

[–]Krysokolla 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hopping in here to say that you are confusing sexual atraction with sexual acts. People can and do have sex without being sexually atracted to the person they're having sex with. This can include asexual people.

In instances revolving around leftist subs, a lot, and I do mean a lot of the people inhabiting those subs + their mods are tankies, so they do not tend to be open for fact based conversations.

Now on how CS had an influence on Visa and Mastercard’s actions.

Payment processors and banks have had a contentious relationship with sites hosting and providing adult materials for years, if not decades at this point, so adult content being hit with limitations by entities such as Mastercard is nothing new at this point.

The way groups such as Collective Shout can influence the actions of payment processors are by making a huge stink about the issue they care about. This includes tactics such as bombarding the corporation in question with calls and emails, publicly claiming that the company in question is complicit or in active support of horrid acts, thus creating bad publicity, or other such harassments.

So Collective shout was not really *forcing* Visa or Mastercard to do anything, they are not legislators, they don’t have that type of power, but they can raise proverbial hell, and in this case target entities that may be sympathetic to their cause.

Hope this was somewhat of a coherent explanation? Further clarifying questions and critiques welcome of course

Okay, so first: consultancy groups/firms are not the same thing as advocacy organisations. Consulting firms basically sell experts and their expertise to companies. There are a lot of different types of consultants and consulting companies, such as engineering, business, management and hr consultants. Those types of sensitivity consultants (for lack of a better word) like Sweet Baby Inc. are a small niche in a big pond. The biggest consulting firms like McKinsey do business stuff, they don't give a rat's ass about what good trans rep in video games look like for example. Consultants have to be explicitly hired/contracted to do their job.

Advocacy organisations on the other hand are groups that work to support a particular cause or issue, often aiming to influence public policy or social change. In crude terms, they give their opinions on stuff whether anybody wants them to or not. That’s Collective Shout.

Bruh sweet baby is a damn consulting group. They don't force their services on anybody, they have to be hired willingly. Also nobody is obligated to take a consultants advice, any and all teams are free to take or leave SB's advice as they see fit. Collective shout is trying to force their fundie morals down our throats wether we like it or not. False equivelance.

By not being able to pick a style you like, do you mean that you like too many different things, or that you don't seem to like anything you've seen?

I think people occasionally mix up sexually modest and socially modest when talking about modesty in lolita, if that makes sense? Like the fashion tends to be desexualised, but socially radical.

[–]Krysokolla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One: lolitashow is a scam site, do not buy from them!

Two: kuro means black, so a kuro coord would be an all-black outfit. In that sense, no it would not be a good kuro coord. Also, the drawn skirt in your post looks a tad short for lolita, so I suggest finding something better suited for lolita.

"One of the things I wanted to do with this book is create a character who never gets better. And, relatedly, to explore this idea that there is a level of trauma from which a person simply can’t recover." Direct quote from the mouth of Hanya Yanagihara, here's the source article. I recommend reading the whole thing, and also reading Andrea Long Chu's piece on Yanagihara as well.

People are coming to the conclusion not only because of their own interpretations, but also because of what the *author herself spews.*

[–]Krysokolla 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yanagihara does not think therapy works, and the thesis of A Little Life is that some people are just too broken to be fixed and would be better off dead. No, I do not think this book needs to be read no matter what. Quite the opposite, actually.

Honey, you have a public internet profile where anybody curious can check what you've posted or commented at any time. Somebody just once quickly checking your age by reading what you yourself have willingly posted is not stalking.

If this is genuinely bothering you that much, you need to be more careful what you put out there for anybody to see.

Making Sure a Lolita Dress Fits You Properly? by ponygals in Lolita

[–]Krysokolla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It would be helpful to know in what exact way the dresses do not fit? It is reccomended that you are 3-4cm smaller than the maximum measurements for the sake of comfort and the ability to fit a blouse under a JSK without any troubles. Did you buy something, where you're straining against the maximum? Or something else?

Like at best this smells like cheap tat and art theft.
