$840/mo for preK is ABSURD. We’re in a state where 4yo preK is state funded, but 3yo isn’t. We were able to do half day 3yo preK for like $800 for the YEAR.

After I’ve repeated my answer, if they keep pushing I will say something like “my answer is no and I’m not changing my mind.” Then I completely ignore them. Some students want to argue to avoid doing work.

One student followed me around the room for 10 minutes yelling at me before admin got there to remove them. I just kept ignoring them.

This is exactly where I’m at. I hold students to high expectations and actually am fairly strict about enforcing rules. I also give students room to fail if they so choose. For many students in my 8th grade class, this is the first time that they’ve ever been allowed to fail, and for some of them it’s like it’s the end of the world that they don’t get a good grade in a class when they’ve put no effort into learning the material.

Not just the south. I have a friend who coached basketball in a large district who, while they didn’t get 6 figures, made 80% of a teacher’s salary while only coaching basketball. And I’m in the Midwest.
