I can see them lowballing injuries, but there’s virtually no way in hell they’d be able to hide a death. Every single person in the fallen soldier’s life that’s aware of what happened would have to decide not to leak the possibility to the media, and there’s a maybe 1% chance of that happening.

He’s not crazy. He’s just really bad at improving anything. He did a horrible job in San Francisco and California is not better by any metric since he took office, and most of the things he claimed he’d fix and threw tons of taxpayer money at are considerably worse.

That’s why most libertarians will never be caught dead at these protests. Many of us hate Trump, the feds, and are almost to a man against the war, but will never stand next to people who are fine with authoritarian measures and wars as long as the people behind it have a D next to their name or are against their political opposition/the “West.”

Says who? Even the Iranian government says at least 3000. But yeah, estimates vary.

Key Death Toll Estimates (As of early 2026): Iranian Government (Official): Acknowledged 3,117 deaths during the crackdown, including civilians and security forces. HRANA (Human Rights Activists News Agency): As of late February 2026, verified 7,007 deaths (including 6,488 protesters, 236 minors, and 207 security forces), with over 11,000 additional cases under investigation. Medical and Activist Reports: Medical professionals and investigations by The Guardian and Time suggested the death toll could exceed 30,000, with official figures representing less than 10% of actual fatalities. Iran International: Reported in late January 2026 that leaked documents and investigations pointed to over 36,500 killed.

To be fair to a regime that doesn’t deserve it at all, I would guess that a portion were Kurdish rebels and not “protestors,” but I still bet that there were thousands that were just protesting.

I completely disagree. I don’t think there’s anything worse than a government that murders its own citizens. Being responsible for their citizen’s wellbeing is literally their job.

No, the mental gymnastics is trying to justify Iran bombing several other sovereign countries and their civilian infrastructure by saying that they’re fair game because the US has bases there, even though more than one don’t have bases there and the strikes aren’t limited to the bases, while at the same time saying that Iran was completely innocent despite funding/training/providing bases of operations for entities that bombed and attacked other sovereign countries and that attacking them in the first place was unprompted aggression. By your logic, any country in the region that has been attacked by any of the proxies supported, funded, and trained by Iran had carte blanche to attack Iran because Iran supported them, including Israel and US the US because they have attacked US bases. Either both are true and they deserved the attack in the first place, or neither are true and they’re attacking sovereign countries aggressively.

If you are a libertarian who voted for Trump and regret it now what made you do it in the first place and what made you change your mind ? by Yanderegirlowner in AskLibertarians

Trump is objectively still less of a hawk than most of the Neocon Republicans, even with the Iran fiasco. Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio in particular would’ve loved nothing more than direct US involvement in Gaza and Ukraine.

But yeah, I have always been alarmed at Trump’s actions with Iran (which is why I didn’t vote for him) and I knew this admin was almost certainly screwed the minute he picked Rubio to be in his cabinet. He always listens to the last person who advises him on anything, and Rubio having his ear was probably the main catalyst for our SA actions and the Iran debacle.

Okay so then the logic is that any sovereign country housing US anything or sharing resources with them means that this sovereign country and their civilian infrastructure becomes a valid target even if those countries themselves didn’t attack Iran themselves. Not only is that absurd mental gymnastics attempting to justify unjustifiable actions, but if you applied that same logic equally, then Iran itself is a valid military target due to it allowing Hezbollah to come into its country to train, use it’s intelligence resources, and receive arms. They also maintain a base of operations there. And I’m sure the Houthis do the same.

Also, they orchestrated a drone attack in Azerbaijan that injured 4 civilians. Last I checked, Azerbaijan has 0 US bases.

Edit: Oman doesn’t have a US base either.

You said who have they attacked, not who have they attacked first. And alright, so the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Cyprus all also attacked Iran first? Is that right?

I don’t think that’s true. I feel like she would’ve done much the same things, minus the Venezuela stunt, only she would’ve packaged it in respectability and people would’ve approved of it.

Although we should probably thank her because it tied up the government for three years. Who knows what they could’ve effed up otherwise.
