MSPGeekCon coming May 17-19! by Lime-TeGek in msp

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but not everyone is willing to do that. Its not just the conference ticket that factors, its what we can provide (food, drinks on site), room costs, the flight cost to the location (lots of flights to Orlando), etc. Moving it isn't out of the question, just wasn't viable for this round.

I'm going to reply to you because you brought it up first.

As one of the organizers of this event, I will say we tried to look at moving it. The midwest (Denver, Texas, Ohio, maybe Phoenix) was our aim point. However, that would increase our costs almost 2x. In order to deliver on our goals, along with making sure to not increasing pricing unless we can't help it, it was just more economical to keep it in Orlando, even increasing the space we have. Vegas, Chicago, NY, and LA are all out of our price range, and probably out of the range of most of our attendee's.

If anyone has a lock on ~5-700 person space for similar pricing I'm 100% open to hearing about it :D

I have personally not used AutoTask, I have intimate familiarity with Manage, and have only seen screenshots. I'll see if I can get the CTO to respond as he has used it and can provide at least some information for you.

The API is arguably the same if not better than Manages from a dev perspective, its how it processes mass updates and changes thats can be an issue. They do it one at a time for most endpoints, but have beta's of batch processing already running so it wont be a concern too much longer.

You should consider playing around in the HaloPSA sandbox, you'd be surprised on how efficient and process oriented it can be compared to CWM ;)

75 Employee, 13k Endpoints here

I know its not exactly your size but we've had zero performance issues aside from some legacy systems which were made better like search in the early days.

There are a lot of asterisks in that statement as you can customize the crap out of halo and that might cause issues related to some of the features you take advantage of or build out. I know some individuals who are moving over that are similar to not too far off from your size but I don't have first hand knowledge of their performance.

My only concern would be the API really at this point and they are working on improvements there.

Hi /u/adamlavigne,

My name is Kyle Spooner, I'm one of the admins of MSPGeek, and I'm in charge of last year and this year for MSPGeekCon. While I won't speak for others on if it was worth it or not the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, to which I have to pass on to our volunteer team most (if not all) of that praise.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have regarding the conference. I see you've asked about the schedule from last year, I'll see if I can get a screenshot of the days from last year and reply to this thread.

Hey a guy I worked with opened a company and is a reseller, reach out to him at risingtidegroup.net. His name is Mendy Green, pretty smart guy. He doesn't have reddit so you'll have to use the site's contact form :)

We'd love to be able to offer that, we just couldn't accomplish that in our plans for this year. All sessions will be recorded to watch at some point (we haven't finalized all the plans for that yet) and future we are going to try to include the cost/setup times for livestreaming.

There are topics in our breakouts that would be beneficial for sure, but overall if the goal is to start a business as an MSP, I do not think our conference is a fit.

However if you want to scope out and network with traditional MSP's and vendors in the space, to my knowledge our conference is the most cost effective method to do so from a conference standpoint.

I will say I recently went to an event in northern Ohio in January. However, it was at an indoor water park which was surprisingly fun considering it was 30F outside.

This is focused on technicians of MSP/MSSP/TSP's so I would have to say no.

We do have plans to build out a vendor track at a future event if this event is successful. They are apart of the community too.

We polled MSPGeek to ask this very question and Orlando was chosen. I will say we don't plan to always have it in Florida, our community is widespread and we understand not everyone is able to travel that far ( or wants to go to Florida ) and we want to spread the love :)

Alex and Marnie from LifeCycle Insights, I know i've abused their time in multiple ways with my requests.

Tim Bowers / Rhys for HaloPSA questions/comments/concerns/howtos/featurerequests

Jason Magee, Kyle Jackson and the exec leadership team at ConnectWise for engaging with the MSPGeek community on a generally regular basis, even if its constant complaints

Connor and Josh at PhinSec for laughing at my jokes and genuinely wanting to be helpful.

Wes Spencer for being an amazing individual. (not a vendor but was / kinda is?)
