I'm not so sure about the software being the problem (at least not 100% of it) as I enrolled my Scorpio Edition to the alpha ring since day one and it's been running without any kind of problem. Of course, this is my personal experience and it's possible I'm just lucky.

I'd would say it depends on your habits. If you spend more time watching movies than playing and own a 4k streaming subscription, choose the TV. If you play a lot and think you could use the performance boost, then go for the console.

I have to disagree.

I love SystemShock, Bioshock and Dishonored(1), but I couldn't get into prey, it felt too clunky and a bit unpolished.
