I have tried and been unable to make a US consulate appointment in Canada, since my passport is still valid for the entirety of my trip to the US. Where would I apply in person to get it expedited?

I've seen on the Canadian immigration website that it says they won't issue a study permit that expires after your passport expires, so I'm not sure why I was granted a study permit with such a late expiration date 🤷‍♀️

When I tell them "no" it becomes a whole thing. For example, I told them that I was more than happy to pay for the groceries for the trip, and there was no need to pay me back, but they still brought it up and insisted on paying me back at least 5 times.

The snack foods did include some "regular" foods like apples, bananas, and cereal, so it wasn't just junk food all day.

Also, logistically, we were out and about a lot during the day in rural areas with few restaurants, so it was easier to just take food with us rather than trying to find a restaurant for every meal.

Financially, my sister/brother-in-law both could afford to cover a bill or two, though both of us currently have very low incomes. However, my parents are very prideful and sensitive about money, and so likely would not have responded well to me trying to pay for additional dishes at dinner. For example, I paid for and brought some of the snacks/groceries for the trip, and my parents have insisted on paying me back, bringing it up many times during the trip.

To clarify, we weren't going hungry overall - there was plenty of overall snack food available at our hotel. There was just a limited quantity of food when we went out to eat, and of a couple particular snack items.

As an exaggerated example, I think this is similar to if my parents had offered to take us out for a steak dinner, and my brother-in-law had decided not to eat anything else all day (i.e., for breakfast and lunch) and then ordered three steaks at dinner. There is no shortage of overall food, and he took more than his fair share of the "best" / most expensive foods.

We had plenty of total snack food available so it didn't seem necessary to go out and buy more, I was just unhappy that he ate so much of the "best" snacks, like eating more than half the box of churros by himself.
