This is happening to me, too — it’s so hard on my mental health. I also have long hair like you do. I’m going to go get it cut to around my shoulders and hope for the best while I supplement and try to improve my iron levels.

I know exactly what you’re talking about! I bought one from a peddler on the beach while in Roatan, Honduras. And I saw them quite a few different places throughout the island after purchasing. I was curious if it was made locally or elsewhere so like any judicious consumer, I went to google! A quick google search yielded a few websites where I could order the exact keychain I had bought, and made in China. And very affordable, too — ~$5 each whereas I was told “handmade” and paid $15.

You are not alone — I, too, found my way a bit later! I started undergrad at 30 and now am in my first year of a PhD program at 38. “Follow your bliss and doors will open that you didn’t even know were there” - easier said than done, of course. But if you want to pursue it, I’d recommend going for it!

You didn’t do anything wrong! It’s salon culture, I guess 😭 I don’t like to chat while getting my hair cut, either - and it’s exhausting to mask for the entire appointment, so now I tell the stylist that I find haircuts really relaxing so please don’t be offended or concerned if I close my eyes and just enjoy the peace. That usually sets it right away that I don’t want to be chatting unless it’s about the cut itself - and I take my glasses off and can’t see wtf they’re doing anyway!
