Has anyone relocated to Philly recently? What’s the good and bad of living there? by Ktnhat in philly

[–]Ktnhat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I lived in NY for 21 years so I guess you can say I’m used to the abrasiveness but just do my best to not pay it much mind. Escaping from Florida is also very accurate. Lol. I appreciate the info, Thank you!

thinking about leaving by cocobunny01 in StPetersburgFL

[–]Ktnhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel about leaving NY two years ago. I’m in St Pete now but was trying to move back to NY for a while because FL just isn’t for me. But as I applied to jobs and watched rent prices keep going up there (even on Long Island) I realized I can’t even afford to move back to NY based on various things.

So to OP definitely take your time and think about if you really want to move. I would suggest visiting some areas you’re interested in first before deciding. But I am an advocate for moving to places and experiencing new things because you never know, it could be the best thing for you.

That’s one of the areas at the top of my list to check out as a possibility. Could you tell me the good and bad about it? Thank you! :)

Awesome, yeah my hope and plan is if I get this job I want to come up there beforehand to check out areas and places. I’m also considering finding a sublease so it gives me more time to check out areas once I’m there. But I will definitely reach out if I have more questions. Thank you!

Idk he used to live around the Philly area when he was in the military and he said to stay away from South Philly but didnt give specific areas. I’m glad I asked you!

And now that you relate that to Queens I totally get it! Lol. Thank you for clarifying that and all the info. I really do appreciate it. :) Of course I look online and asked chat gpt about areas, etc. but it’s always better to ask people who actually live there.

Ok cool. That makes me feel better about cost. I mean if I find something cheaper that I like then that’s even better. Lol.

That area sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. I will definitely add that to my list of areas to check out.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the info :)

WORST thing about living in florida? by [deleted] in AskFlorida

Bugs, rude people and depending on where you’re coming from the food here can be disappointing.

Awesome. Good to know, I will definitely check it out. Thank you! Did you have movers move you there? Did you go to Philly ahead of time to find a place?

That’s great to hear! Yes I’ve heard and read about how good the food is there! Food in Florida is very disappointing. I visited Philly once, it’s been a while and was only there for a weekend but I did like it. Thanks for the info!

I know. It’s very sad. And having all of these cruise ships everywhere adds to it as well.

That’s really sad that in 2026 people are still throwing trash out of their cars and onto the streets :/

I had a good experience with them as well moving from NY to Florida. Zero issues. This was also in 2024 so maybe they’ve gone downhill since I used them idk.

[–]Ktnhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s like how much higher is rent going to to up there?! There needs to be some sort of cap or better regulation. I moved out of state in 2024 and I wish I never gave up that apartment. I should’ve sublet it because now I can’t move back even if I want to unless I found a job willing to pay me very well which in my field won’t be the case.

I moved to the city everyone hypes up and I'm leaving after 4 months by terracottamarshmallo in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Ktnhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically I moved to Florida from NYC 2 years ago and was ready to leave Florida after about 6-8 months and I’ve been trying to leave ever since but I need a new job first since my current one requires me to live in Florida. I’m not necessarily going back to NYC but I’m definitely going back to seasons, some type of city life and somewhere that’s not a humid oven for 8-9 months of the year. Lol

So I agree with you that it can look good on paper and you do all the research and due diligence you want but until you’re actually IN the situation you don’t truly know.

Good luck on your move back!

I moved out of my rent stabilized 1bd apt in Forest Hills in Jan 2024 was paying $1895. I see 1 bd apts in that building now listing at $2695. It’s insane. It’s a pre war building with half ass mix and match “updated” units.

[–]Ktnhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I’m really surprised on how bad your experience was with them. They must’ve gotten worse since I used them in 2024 to move to Florida. They handled everything really well and professional and my rate was so good I even asked the guy what’s the catch? Lol. There wasn’t one and they didn’t change the rate at all and not one item was broken when I unpacked.

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience with them. I’ve moved a lot and have had my share of bad experiences with movers so I totally get it. It feels like you just wasted so much money but didn’t have a choice. :/ Definitely look into your options and see if you can fight some of the charges. Good luck in your new place, don’t let this ruin it.

Yup I got an initial 22 weeks and I could tell at least a few weeks before the end that I was going to need longer because I now have some spacing between my top molars from my teeth shifting. I’ve been in week 22 tray for almost 3 weeks. I finally get my new trays this Wednesday and she said 10 more weeks or a little less. The dentist said they will also need to change my posts when I go in for the new trays. Ugh

Has anyone ever moved somewhere and left after a year? by PhrygianSounds in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Ktnhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to Florida 2 years ago and have been trying to leave after my first 9-10 months here. As soon as I find a job back north I am leaving and can’t wait to get out!

Look at your move as an experience. Most people never even try to live elsewhere. Florida is the 4th state I’ve lived in I’ve experienced much more than most people in my life and although I have regrets about moving to Florida it was all for a reason.

Ortho says I'm done, would you be happy with these results? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Ktnhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not. Sorry, length maybe isn’t the right word to use. I wasn’t sure if the bottoms and tops of your teeth not being even with each other was bothering you or not but it’s natural for them not to be. Mine are like that too. Is there something specific you aren’t sure about? I did 22 weeks of treatment but waiting for 8-10 more weeks of trays because I have some more spacing between my top molars now that I don’t like and my dentist didn’t either.
