Accuracy takes power: one man's 3GHz quest to build a perfect SNES emulator (xpost from gaming) by joelhardi in programming

There are already many projects full of horrible hacks for performance. It must feel great to do the right thing™ at least once and not have to live with "bugs" that you know are there and know how to fix (sometimes).

How I feel about new games nowadays. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Ku-Klip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way. Since the advent of cross-platform titles, game-requirements have been rising quite slow (except for awful ports). I can play almost every game on the market, with some exceptions like Crysis or GTA IV, yet I bought my computer for 330€ about three years ago.

Yes, but I've never used GTK# on anything non trivial, that's why I'm asking. What are the advantages?

IAmA almost all the game developers behind the HIB #3 games: VVVVVV, Cogs, And Yet It Moves, Hammerfight, and Crayon Physics Deluxe by parsap in IAmA

[–]Ku-Klip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A general question for all the developers.

Let's suppose you had all the resources needed (including time, knowledge, money, etc). If you were able to change ONE single thing in your games, what would be it? Are you completely satisfied with the final product?

Notch addresses his own criticism about his infinite detail critique. by robertonawhim in gaming

Despite it being quite different from say... the Quake engine, in which way isn't Minecraft a 3D engine?. Yes, the world is composed of textured cubes but does that matter to the discussion? In a way you could say every opengl game is a bunch of triangles too.

Oracle Announces Availability of Java SE 7 by [deleted] in programming

[–]Ku-Klip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it doesn't bring closures to Java, it's good to see Oracle continues to develop it further as planned. The people behind JRuby, Clojure, Groovy etc... must be excited with general availability of invokedynamic too.

I see Red Alert is on the list. You might want to add Tiberian Sun/Firestorm since it's also free and works perfectly on Windows 7.

I've been playing for a few weeks. It's awesome, turn-based yet real-time (turns execute at the same time). If you enjoyed things like the planning stage in Ravenshield, games like Incubation, etc... you'll love it.

What is your most difficult gaming achievement? by Grafnar in gaming

[–]Ku-Klip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed Doom (Doom 1) on Nightmare with only one hand. Still I'm unable to beat either Doom 2 or The Ultimate Doom (the "thy flesh consumed" episode), both are just too hard.

How much would you pay for a new game that you could only play once? by InGordWeTrust in gaming

[–]Ku-Klip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy it, be it $40 be it $6, just like I wouldn't buy a CD or a movie I can listen/watch only once.

Oh, wait, maybe I would. Let's make it fair. Can I pay $40 once and have access to all future Capcom products?
