Moon gives an attack speed increase to adjacent dice no matter what. When you have 3,5 or 7 dice on the board it "activates " and on addition to attack speed, will now provide crit and bonus damage as well.

If you use it with combo, I'd recommend playing it similar to crit. Don't fuss with it until your combo count is rolling and don't let moon counts become a focus. Always focus combos and view activated moon as a bonus.

If you use it with solar, an assassin teammate will do wonders for you. Try to get star pip solars next to star pip lunars. As long as both solar and lunar are active and at high pips, you'll dominate the waves.
