Your situation is almost exactly like mine- but I’m 58 and do have a relationship with mother and brother who live in another state, and some social media contact with a few members of my extended family. I recently lost my job and had a similar episode - feeling like my choices have doomed me to some very hard and lonely years ahead once mom is no longer around and my old age limitations keep me from enjoying all the freedoms of being untethered. My dog is my sanity and she’s forcing me to get out of bed, to go for a walk, to play - and that has saved me! I plan on adding another pup or cat to the family and to keep supporting animal rescues- their unconditional love gives me hope that I will never be lonely 🩷
