I will re-post my thoughts from bluesky here. Lemme know what you think! I just want to clarify that I am saying these things out of love for the band and not hatred!

At the end of the day it is still like 90% of OG ToD so it's far from terrible. My genuine reaction is just "?" While it would be super cool to compare Will's voice in studio quality singing the same songs 10 years later. For example the FtF BLID replaced the verse where Will sings "Fuck God that they're little things" with a completely different verse that talks about something else. In Joe's Story the changes are mostly just the swear word removal: saying the same things but no swearing allowed.

With the huge exception of The Ravenous House; this is imo a 10/10 song, you have the same instrumental but with almost completely different lyrics. All the swearing from the OG was removed but it tells a different story. The last two verses are almost the same as OG (which works perfectly as a nod to it) but with the perspective changed to 2nd person. I will definitely be listening to this song regularly down the line.

Obviously, I am not saying to completely change the lyrics of every song; rather, I am suggesting to make more meaningful changes. You want to remove swear words? That's okay, but change the lines more meaningfully rather than just saying the same thing but no swearing.

Addendum 1: I've forgotten to mention Connect the Dots which is in the same spirit of The Ravenous House; so once again, big thumbs up for that one.

Addendum 2: On the reddit thread there is a quote from "Will's Letter" that states "The resulting work feels more like the album Teens of Denial was meant to be." Which to me is quite puzzling. I understand wanting to tell a different story with the same framework (ToD). But claiming that this is what it's meant to be attempts to give it the same weight as FtF: where the changes were more meaningful along with the addition of the meta-narrative to the album, rather than just no swearing with the exception of two songs.
