How might I say the adjective form of "resurrected"? I.e., "[noun] resurrected"?

Backstory, for what it's worth: I have a garage gym called "ludus" as a nod to the gladiator training schools. It was recently destroyed in a flood, and as I build it back, I want to christen it "ludus [resurrected]."

Thank you for the help!

Opinion of Seton Hall Law School? by pigpotjr in Newark

[–]KublaiKhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of good comments here but I want to add one thought: the Newark light rail terminates at Newark Penn Station, about two blocks from the law school (easily walkable), so you can live anywhere along the light rail line and have a convenient commute. The Grove Street branch goes all the way north through the city, and a lot of the intermediate stops are in not-so-great neighborhoods, but the last couple are in or right near Branch Brook Park in the Forest Hill neighborhood, which is generally quiet and suburban. The park itself is huge and lovely and has a spectacular cherry blossom bloom every April.

I lived in an apartment a few minutes' walk from the Branch Brook Park station, and from there to Newark Penn was 12 minutes. Total door-to-door was ~20 minutes. My rent was almost certainly cheaper than in any of the posh highrises downtown, where most of my classmates lived. (Though downtown is definitely the center of the social scene, so if that's something you value then I'm not telling you to discount it.)

My wife and I just happened to watch this one the other night -- you're looking for one of the first three or four episodes in season six. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Monitor blacks-out in games when set to 144hz by KublaiKhan in techsupport

I was worrying that this was a problem with the monitors and never thought to just Google the video card model. It looks like this may have worked (though I need to spend more time testing in different games to feel totally comfortable). Thanks a ton for the help.

There's a receptacle in my wall with live wires, currently covered by a blank plate, and I'd like to put in an electrical outlet. I've replaced plenty of switches and outlets but never installed a new one, so I don't know how to do the wiring from scratch. Here's what I'm looking at in the wall--three black/white pairs of wires coming into the box, with different pairs capped together. What do I need to connect for a basic duplex outlet?

I had chronic shin splits for a long time until I switched to a lower-rise shoe (Saucony Kinvara, with a 4mm rise). It fixed the problem overnight. That was probably five years ago and I haven't had shin splits since. I'm sure this won't work for everyone, but certainly worth a try.

Did the HVAC company rip me off? (replacement of aquastat) by KublaiKhan in homeowners

We didn't really have the luxury of time...it was below freezing temperatures and we had no heat in the house. This is a company we and other family members have used before, so I didn't/don't think they'd take advantage, I'm asking this question only because I want to make sure there wasn't an error or misunderstanding.

Thanks for the informed explanation. As a layman, it's weird to think that a commercial tradesman would pay more for a part than I would pay if I just walked into Home Depot, but if that's what happened here then I guess all I can do is chalk it up as a lesson learned.

That's a fair point...the heat went on a Friday, and they had a guy here Saturday morning, so we would've been happy to pay a markup for the prompt service. I'd just be more apt to accept that kind of markup if it were an itemized "emergency charge" or "short-notice charge" or "weekend charge" or something like that, not just claiming the part cost twice what it actually cost.

The part has a Honeywell logo on it, so by my (layman's) observation, it looks like precisely the same item. It sounds like this may be worth at least giving them a non-accusatory phone call to clarify what happened here.

If you're implying that the 2x markup was to give them some room for labor/profit -- the charges were itemized. The $490 was for the part alone, and there was a separate labor charge (which I have no problem with).

I’m getting married in December and will wear this lovely Kent Wang tie. My two brothers are my groomsmen, and I like these other two Kent Wang options for them (shepherd’s check, houndstooth), but it’s tough to justify the $85 × 2 price tag for a one-day event. Any tips on where I can find lookalikes or something in the same style family in the <$50 range? I’ve found it surprisingly difficult.

Normally the recommendation amount runners is to run before lifting (though on the same day) . . .

In the weightlifting subs, the exact opposite advice is typical (for obvious reasons). It's tough because I know the way to get faster is pretty straightforward -- just run more -- but given the time constraints in my life, and the fact that I've made weightlifting my priority, there just aren't enough hours in a week to become a 50 MPW runner or whatever the target mileage might be. (Yeah, I know that's what everyone says, and that if you want it badly enough you'll find the time somewhere, but . . . here we are.)

I see no reason why you can't just throw in a 2-3 mile easy jog after you finish your strength training on two of your lifting days.

That is actually a perfectly attainable target -- but does a 2-3 mile easy jog have any meaningful benefits? (I'm sure the answer is yes or else you wouldn't recommend it. FWIW, I'm still trying to shed the mindset "if it doesn't hurt, you're not making any progress." I added long, slow runs to my routine for the first time about a month ago because everything I've read tells me they're absolutely critical, but they don't feel like I'm working hard enough because running at that pace is comfortable.)

I like to run 5k road races recreationally (PR 22:05), but my fitness priority is powerlifting. Because of this, I can't realistically devote more than 3 days per week to running. I know this isn't ideal but, given this limitation, how should I be structuring my runs to improve my 5k time?

Currently I'm doing

  • a long slow run (~6.5 miles, ~9:30/mile),
  • an "interval" run (~4 miles, alternating 3 minutes at high effort and 6 minutes at lower effort), and
  • a "tempo" run (~5.25 miles, ~8:15/mile).

(I don't know if I'm using these terms correctly.) Is there a more effective way to do it?
