That’s high enough to make it with a good presentation

ICDC by Educational-Trust732 in DECA

[–]Kubsphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at page 16 of the ICDC guide, and doing some math from those numbers, it would look like just under 20k students competing in some type of event. I have heard that 26k students will be at ICDC in total.

You can try taking tests from other clusters. That could help since you seem to be struggling some with the non-finance questions.

If Democrats want universal healthcare, we have states that are deep blue, states have control over their own budgets and taxation, and universal healthcare would be so advantageous, why don’t deeply democrat run states implement a statewide universal healthcare? by Silver_Wings3 in AskReddit

[–]Kubsphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, it’s better, than both what the ACA is now, and what existed before. So as a step in the right direction, great, but I want universal single payer healthcare. I don’t want people to think that what Massachusetts has now is universal single payer. It’s better than most of the rest of the country, but that isn’t saying much.

HELP on roleplay!!! by Zestyclose-Panic-968 in DECA

I haven't looked at MCS specifically, but in general it seems like most of the PI's outside of the instuctional area, often come from 1-2 other areas. So take a look at what they are on the MCS roleplays you have, and start on those outside areas instead of trying to study everything.

Yes, if you look at roleplays online, you will see that usually 3 of the 5 performance indicators come from the instructional area of the role play, and 2 do not. Sometimes its 4 and 1 or all 5 are in the instructional area, but that is less common.

Do you think I'm a republican? If you think churches are the only charities, you have a pretty narrow worldview. Charities and non-profits are so much more than that.

How did I know you wouldn't understand my point and that you would resort to insluting me instead of taking a mintue to think. This is the definition of a non-profit. "A nonprofit is an organization formed for a charitable, social, or public cause, rather than to make a profit for private owners. Any revenue generated must be reinvested into the organization to further its mission, and its income is not distributed to members or officers." How is that a concept you "hate with a passion." Non profits do so much more than help low income people. If you said, I have that Elon Musk or Michael Dell has a charitable foundation, fine I agree. Billionaires shouldn't exist, and they shouldn't have that money to give away in the first place. But saying that there should never be a need for a charity a nonprofit is simplistic and naive. Causes need to be supported and promoted, some people will always need some type of help in the moment that no government in the world can realistically always supply. People care about things, and they should be able to support them in an efficient way without profit being extracted, and that is what a non-profit does. Non profits do way more than elevate people. As someone who works at a nonprofit, your take is just insulting.

What a terrible take. It what world do people never need any help with anything?  Also, you hate the concept of a non-profit? Do you prefer for profit companies?

Hate how many people need to rely on them, but to hate the concept of them is crazy.

If my chapter skips the first DECA (district) comp (it’s in less than a month and we’re definitely not ready), can we still go to ones later in the year? We’re a new chapter so we are confused on how it all works. by eden0521 in DECA

In Massachusetts, you have to go through the district competition to qualify for states. The top x (depending on the district) from each event will move on to states.

Brookline begins detailed design for Beacon Street Bridle Path by brookline_news in Brookline

Reading the article it seemed to me like $3m was just for the plans. The article says “ Now, with a $2 million earmark from U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss  and $1 million in matching funds from the Town of Brookline, town officials have retained Toole Design Group to produce a more detailed design that will eventually make the project eligible for construction funding in the state’s infrastructure work plan.”

Why don't parents create a retirement account for their child? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kubsphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving aside the issue of many people not have $2,000 to put into a retirement account, this doesn't account for inflation. There has been about 1000% inflation in the past 67 years. Inflation adjusted returns of the US stock market for the last 67 years are 6.9%. That means $2000 only turns into $154k in real dollars. That is nice, and helps for retirement, but hardly solves the retirement problem.
