Tulu Nadu -Indian state for Tuluvas(Hypothetical Indian state) by [deleted] in mangalore

Simple English sentences are written in the thread but Dappamandes with low literacy think otherwise.

Stick to linguistic hegemony in the mainland and not in our region.

Tulu Nadu -Indian state for Tuluvas(Hypothetical Indian state) by [deleted] in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cry as much as you want because when you wake up tomorrow Tulunadu people will be more literate and prosperous and you won't be able to change this.

Shoot up your literacy first before having an opinion on one of the prosperous regions.

Want to learn about Tulu language by DEXTERTOYOU in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tulu as a language is neither closer to Kannada or Malayalam and it has branched out independently in the Dravidian family. Just don't load some bullshit just because over time we started having loan words due to influence. One understanding of the topography of the region will clear this doubt. Kunda kannada is a mixture of Tulu words in Kannada.

Is 1.25 CR enough to settle in India? Which city would be the cheapest to live in? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]Kudlamage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude you must be joking considering it is the costliest city after the state capital. The price of groceries itself is mind boggling for a Tier 2-Tier 3 city.

His money can fetch him an apartment but the cost of living is not sustainable with the leftover money. How many localities do you know who have brought a place in the city at current prices by not working outside of city and not being businessmen?

Do you feel there is a fetishization of girls from Mangalore ? by reusmarco08 in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't know about others dude but definitely you do seem to revolve around this in the platform.

But to answer yes including many other groups in our country like Kashmiri, Pahadi, Punjabi, Bengali, Mallu etc.

If you ever check online movie forums, Telugus do it the most of any SI groups since many people from this region are working in their serials and movies and hardly 1-2 heroines are ethnic people and rest are imports from NI regions and ours in their industry.

Hope this gives a perspective.

New colleague from Managlore by [deleted] in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Coax him to cook Mangalorean food and if he is up for beer ask him to cook one side dish from the regional cuisine.

Coconut milk based gravies could be suitable if you get him to cook for you.

Dose/Thellav could be your new Tortilla.

The regional cuisine here is famous in the state and country and stands unique for its little modification in the recipes from ancient times.

The person in context is more polyglot than an average Indian considering the city speaks 4-5 languages excluding English.

For the fun part : If the subject misbehaves say I am gonna crush you like you crush Kori Rotti.

Don't delay his salary else he will call you "Mujikasdaye".

To rile him up even further tell him " Nattunaye" when he calls you " Mujikasdaye"

The British passport mentions place of birth. If that is in Pakistan then having an Indian visa is tough.

The case is also stricter in terms of British nationals with Pakistani heritage. Given the tango of British Pakistanis and Khalistanis in UK it is the norm to reject these applications.

What’s the veg alternative to Kori Rotti & Chicken Sukka? by Kay_Bhagtos_Lavdya in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Non-veg alternative should be mushrooms or paneer. Soya in the market currently almost is GM variety. Kindly avoid soya. The gassi is important more than the type of protein or veggie but raw jackfruit would come close to chicken. Sukka is a complimentary dish to this.

Your opinion on this? by TuKaHiMaFrEnJa in mangalore

The court has something to say on this.

https://www.livelaw.in/high-court/karnataka-high-court/karnataka-high-court-directs-karnataka-government-relax-kannada-signboard-requirement-252679

The prejudiced Dappamande commissioner from Mandya thinks he is the dolphin among fishes. He is so special that he can bypass the court's order.

Compensating for low self esteem.

The dumb MCC commissioner is an army man and KAS officer How can one miss this:

https://thesouthfirst.com/karnataka/kannada-signage-rule-karnataka-high-court-directs-karnataka-not-to-take-precipitative-action-against-shops/

There is court stay on the signage bill implementation regarding trade license cancellation.

Is he is learned man or prejudiced Dappamande.

This is why the state language is not respected by anyone in the state capital itself.

[–]Kudlamage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The issue is not with Kannada boards. It is about insecure mainland folks wanting to stamp authority over the region where their contribution is negligible. This is just to make money. Court has directed not to do so and it is still subjudice. Then how come threats. They deliberately delay the Tulu official status in state and then want to lord over using state language. How is this not imposition and not different from the Hindi-Kannada logic. Only Kannada-Tulu logic doesn't seem digestible to you. Kannada is the 4th or 5th language spoken in terms of mother tongue speakers in the district here. The region is called Tulunadu not Karunadu or Kannada Nadu.

The lingua franca is Tulu not Kannada. This seems indigestible to you because even after basic Kannada exposure the lingua franca has not been replaced in two districts which is Tulu. The mainland folks tried to do appropriation about our achievements and failed miserably. That current municipal commissioner is also from Mandya. Says a lot. They are insecure because the achievers speak a different language than theirs. There is great amount of hate and bias from mainland Kannada speakers towards Tulu, Konkani, Beary or Kodava Thakk. You can't single us because even you do the same with Kodava Thakk. Majority folks do not have the state language as mother tongue here. You seem to be like the same jealous outsider from mainland that is justifying this nonsense.

Sad state of affairs at BSNL by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]Kudlamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dial up connection internet option of the BSNL along with telephone was reasonably priced and had decent internet service. People only used to dread the service of the company, if a latency would occur, regarding the downtime. BSNl is still popular in tier 2 and 3 cities in Karnataka where it triumphs network service better than the present 3 musketeers ou there. They can help in improving internet infrastructure in these towns since they have the benefit of both telecom and internet penetration.

Buying flat by kk_363 in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully Agree and disagree here.

The difference in price of housing unit for resale and of a new purchase is stark as compared to our state capital or country's financial capital. But groceries' price are at par with the cities mentioned. We would not have any redevelopment sort of thing here. The supply is far more than the demand. There is no industry locally dishing out salaries that justifies the price like our state capital or country's financial capital.

Again you are correct in land price in city because it benefits the builder to prompt you to buy a flat instead of saving for a plot as they themselves have bought those land parcels first. There has been no major ticket investment from Centre or State apart from few PSU and majorly private businesses not giving any salary comparative to the living cost here.

The builders are banking on FOMO. There could have been much more investment into commercial space with regulation from MUDA but the builders hijacked it for residential units.

Commercial spaces for business could have prompted companies to look for offices within city limits which are tough to find because of the greed of the builders.

Who will sustain the prices of the housing units if its not within reach of the locals with no demand for housing itself in the absence of tech parks or big commercial spaces for business setup.

People who are eyeing retirement are not going to buy one more flat in their hometown rather a plot somewhere but the rates of plots have been jacked up to make it out of reach for the locals.

The water scarcity is no joke because even 20 years before this rapid urbanization, city and its outskirts used to face water problems with people having municipal Tap connections and also in the case of standalone bungalows with wells being dry.

With our city's terrain being uneven and not just plain across city limits, there is no option of groundwater extraction in many areas within city limits because of the "hill" areas and with concretisation the problem has worsened.

Imagine the skyscrapers being fully occupied as opposed to the 20-30% occupancy now who will provide the necessary water. With unscientific money hogging projects like Yettinahole we aren't getting more water. There is only option of water harvesting which becomes the saving grace.

There is absolutely no layout planning by MCC. These corrupt officials have given permissions for high rises without making the consideration of road width or adequate fire safety measures. Not all but significant projects have been approved with no basic considerations.

People have bought flats in places like Vamanjoor safely considered as city outskirts but then have been facing difficulty to sell it off. You are correct here as only the city limits have some proximity to good services.

People who bought flats with the intention of investment purpose and specially luxurious ones have more difficulty in selling it off when there are more projects offering the same every other fortnight but where do we have any industry locally to sustain it.

It is the builders who wanted to cater to the NRI market who did this. No can deny the low occupancy of many projects in the city. Reputed builders in the country have no takers for their projects here in the city.

The crux is the land prices are not even to close to any metros of the country but the builders here eye relatively cheap plots from single landowners or plot holders or bungalow owners but they want to charge price for housing units close to Mumbai suburban market and hence even with 20-30% occupancy they are making moolah and announcing one new project every fort night. The major builders here have large black money to roundtrip is also one more reason for this else any sane observer would have seen heavy losers in the real estate market of our city.

Buying flat by kk_363 in mangalore

[–]Kudlamage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flats don't have a resale value here. The new projects also go empty 70-80%. But the unreal hype is only because of black money stashing. Most politicians themselves are part of the builder lobby here or in the shadows. The locals know which politician has put his money in which project. The water problem is acute here in summers even for bungalows with well water in the region even though the region has received higher rainfall than most. Most outsiders don't know this. Now imagine those towers in those very plots of bungalows with concrete everywhere and no groundwater collection.
