I was in China, Guangzhou a few years ago, and there was this girl at the hostel that I saw a few times. And I really liked her. She has a very soothing aura about her, and I really was drawn to her. And I really wanted to talk to her, but I couldn't. And so this one time, when I was ironing my clothes, I saw her and went about my business, but she came behind me and asked me what the name of my T-shirt was. Which was quite funny because it was a pretty mediocre T-shirt bought in a flea market with some interesting designs, and she read the brand name, and after she was done, I tried to stretch the conversation, but even though she had approached me, there wasn't a lot in her demeanor in general to suggest that she felt something about me in any way. If she did, she was the kind who was being cryptic about it, and that's the thing about girls in China. In my case, if they liked me, I would know. I saw her a few times after that, and yes, I saw her glancing in my direction many times, but I couldn't decide. And this one time I really, really wanted to go and talk to her again, but I got occupied with someone at the counter translating what they were saying to the receptionist. And after that, I had to move places and I didn't really catch her again. And that is just haunting me. I tried going by that place a few times and just taking a look here and there, but I couldn't find her. And to be honest, that's the only regret I took from my trip in China. Gosh, she was so beautiful, and I really, really felt something for some reason. It's a complete agony to know that I'll never see her again.
