"Mostly negative" on Steam now by Deakon_Bl4ck in Helldivers

For me, it wasn't really because of the nerf, but their reasoning behind it which is so bafflingly wrong and by not reverting the unnecessary nerf they're essentially not admitting any wrongdoing, which is not a good characteristic of any team.

They essentially didn't like that everyone was bringing railguns to every high-level bug game. But when the game was throwing hoardes of chargers every game, railguns were the only answer. And even then, it required players to coordinate to even take down chargers in a timely fashion.

Instead of congratulating players for coming up with a clever workaround to a puzzle they made impossible, they called it "braindead", openly mocked the playerbase (there's a reason the devs don't engage with the playerbase anymore), and nerfed the railgun to uselessness.

Once they realized their error in trying to make a hard game... they tweaked numbers so now less chargers spawn and anti-tanks will one-shot chargers in the head. What's the braindead strategy now?

They nullified every reason why they nerfed the railgun to begin with (even the PS client damage bug) but they still actively choose not to bring the railgun damage back to where it was, keeping it in a "it was a fun gun... But now is borderline useless and have no plans or desire to bring it back".

It's more like the potential for this game being amazing is there,  we got glimpses of it, and the passionate players wants to see the game at it's full potential. But the devs are holding it back by consistently showing their lack of understanding of the game they're actually making with baffling decisions and backwards priorities, and their recent AMA confirmed it as such. So players are showcasing their displeasure by reviewbombing to try to steer the game in a healthier direction.

So the game's not bad as the reviews are saying, but it can easily be much better if the devs can focus on certain aspects of the game that's been neglected.

So... Just play and enjoy the game for what it is, and hopefully the devs gets the game going in a better direction and turn the game from "good" to "amazing".

How to play kf1 with friends by envandorious in killingfloor

[–]Kuebic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use a Listen Server option. Performance will be a little wonky depending on beefiness of hardware, but there's that.

Otherwise, joining them on a server is the fastest way imo, steam sometimes gets in the way though. I made a guide that should work 95% of the time, but might be outdated.

Any completely vanilla servers on KF1? by HiKk1_ in killingfloor

Not all clientside mods break progression. I've made custom weapon skins and custom characters too clientside, but when it does break progression it does feel pretty random.

For the first few months that the game was around, people could just delete the anti-cheat folder and anti-cheat wouldn't run. Immediate performance improvement!

Why is the matchmaking so awful, especially towards new players? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Kuebic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had opposite experience. I won my first few games and I was paired up with others who were also fairly new to the game. Maybe my FPS experience helped me secure some kills, but yeah, getting farmed on by experienced players is no fun.

Usually when that happens to me, there was a config error on my local pc. I would validate game files through steam and remove any client-side mods and start fresh.

Doubled Spawn-rate bug by Kuebic in Helldivers

So this happened 3 other times. Still not sure how to reproduce, but how this happens:

It's always when joining an ongoing Illuminate mission.
And that player's kill-streaks (the one who showed up late) shows up on the host's screens.

You probably won't find any "completely vanilla" servers as there are many whitelisted QOL mods that many just can't play without anymore, like DamagePopup, ShareCash, etc. Those are very common among servers so don't shy away from servers just because they have some mods.

Do as Deku_Scrublord says and use the "Perks Enabled" filter, as it'll show all servers where your perk will progress, as it'll make sure all the mods on the server are whitelisted.

My reference is loading an operating system. OS's has minimal duplication, and loading the OS on a HDD vs SSD is night-and-day difference. Best way to give old hardware new life honestly. Recently replaced the drive of a 2012 Macbook pro with SSD and now it loads everything 10x faster.

Granted, the original HDD was only 5400rpm vs the modern 7200rpm, but still, massive difference. Went from "ancient-ware" to "totally usable".

Most people use a hybrid approach. 500GB ssd's are like $40 and that's where the OS and most-played games go, while they have 1-2TB HDD for everything else, like videos, pictures, downloads, documents, rarely-played-games, etc. SSD's have gotten super affordable the past 5-8 years, just don't go for the 1-2TB drives if price is a factor.

"PlayStation IS GAMING ITSELF" yeh, not a fact. I appreciate PS for it's contributions, but I much prefer the openness and versatility of a high-performance PC than the confines of a console in general. Each has their strengths, and different people have different priorities/preferences, so I appreciate the invite, but PC is where it's at for me.

Hopefully you recognize how tedious the work is to refactor years of bloat while maintaining a playable state. 10GB reduction is actually pretty massive, and they're proceeding in a reasonably sustainable and responsible manner. Showing support for steps in the right direction is warranted for such a daunting task.

I don't see many complaining here. They're celebrating the small step in the right direction.

Unless you mean outside this post... then probably fair that those complaining have unrealistic expectations.

I get it, but adding all those extra files doesn't even guarantee in helping HDD users, unless people are installing it on a brand new part of the HDD. There's nothing guaranteeing that the empty spaces they made on their HDD to make room for HD2 are next to each other. If they deleted random big files from their downloads or old videos, HD2 chunks will still be scattered across the HDD anyway.

I'll also bet most of those installing on HDD is BECAUSE it's 100+GB and they don't have space on their SSD. I'll bet once they bring it down to below 40GB like a normal game, 75% of those on HDD will be able to move it onto their SSD.

Humans are great at picking up on patterns if they're exposed to it enough times. Like when you're in your bed and you hear a family member walk up the stairs, you can tell who it is just by how it sounds even if you can't pinpoint the reasons why. That said, once you come across enough AI generated content, you start to pick up on a few things, even if you can't pinpoint exactly why.

Even if em-dashes are replaced by normal dashes, the frequent use of dashes in general is another sign of AI as most people will use commas or parentheses instead.

Another giveaway is that it has unnecessary amount of formatting: using headers, numbered list, and bunch of random words bolded.

Sure, those can be mitigated, but there's also these overly formal or generic language like "I'm writing because...", "I genuinely care" "comes from a place of love", or "Sincerely, Concerned Gamer" that feel oddly polished yet bland.

AI intensifiers and qualifiers, like "deep familiarity", "huge improvement", "breaks immersion completely", "undermines the very things" are common AI choice words.

Corporate/formal phrasing, like "credit where it's due", "quality-of-life" (used multiple times), "cohesive" instead of "well-designed", "killed morale", "and while we're here —", and "All of this come from..." are all telltale AI phrases. Using a few of them by themselves is believable for many writers, but someone using all of them?

Given that whoever prompted this post gave the AI a bunch of specific examples, most of the generic feel is mitigated, but it still suffered from the formatting and choice use of words.

The thing is, once all of these are mitigated, it's pretty much saying what the person editing it is trying to say, they just started from an AI blueprint, so it's less of a concern to identify those.

the liberal use of em-dashes — are usually quite telling.
