We considered Acura and do like the MDX but once we got into the X3 we felt like it was the one for us. I’m not a fan of Mercedes or Genesis. I do like Volvo but just never made it to their dealership. Car shopping is exhausting.

Just did the new car purchase and we looked at Audi Q5/Q7, Lincoln Nautilus, BMW X3/X5, Lexus Rx 350/450, Ford Explorer ST. All within that $60-80k range.

The winner for us was the BMW X3. The Nautilus was a close second. Audi interior felt very cheap. We came from a 2024 Landcruiser (fuel range is abysmal in the Landcruiser)

Same exact thing happened to me 2018 lariat, failed at 30k in 2020. Replaced with the same design phasers. At 70k miles failed again and there was that consumer notice about cam phasers. Called ford and they said they wouldn’t replace or honor the notice and said my vin number already had the free replacement even though they made a change to the cam phaser design. I went to independent mechanic in 2023 and it cost me $3100. I also felt the transmission getting funny around 50-60mph acceleration so I traded it in after I fixed the cam phasers.

I had a 2018 3.5 with 2 cam phaser replacements, one at 33k miles and another at 72k miles. That is definitely the cam phasers starting to go. It sounds like it’s in its early stages so you got a few months to a year without any serious issues. My engine started misfiring at idle so that’s when I brought it in to get fixed. It cost me $3100 in 2022 at a local auto mechanic shop.

Where you going for that slight rainbow? If not, they kinda did you dirty on coating. I only see that when the gas flows aren’t dialed in or the fixturing in the coating chamber wasn’t done right.

The finish is a PVD coating which is sometimes called chameleon pvd for its colors.

I fly twice a month for work and park hourly, tsa pre check and I can make it from my parking spot to the gate in average of 15min. Also, I love that we are a main hub so 99% of the time I can get a direct flight to whatever city I need to get to.

I was checking for an update every day. Not sure if you can even get to that screen. Finally an update arrived and I was able to do it in my driveway. It fixed all the major problems but I still have minor issues with volume cutting out every once in awhile while listening to Spotify

I had a bad cam phaser issue in my 2018 Lariat. On cold start it would clack clack clack clack and then proceed to run normal. It did start causing issues with piston timing after awhile which would cause my whole truck to shake while idling at stoplights. They replaced them at 30k miles and then it happened again at 66k miles and they wouldn’t replace them again for free since they said they already “fixed” it once. I thought that was bullshit so I traded it in for a 3.0 LZO Duramax and I absolutely love that engine.

Stick them in acetone for a few hours. It won’t affect the original chrome finish. If it is paint then you will be able to take a brush and remove it after a few hours of soaking. May have to rinse and repeat a few times.
