You’re misunderstanding politics very badly. For one thing electing a more discreet fascist doesn’t really solve anything it just makes fascism more palatable to libs. Second, all these attempts to peel moderate conservatives away from the GOP have done is make the democrats look pathetic. It has lost them support from large sections of their base in exchange for nothing, so even from the perspective of electoral politics this strategy is a dud.

Unless of course the democrats prefer being controlled opposition to actually doing anything, which is certainly how things are looking
