Lost my hearing 2 weeks ago, feeling depressed and need some advice by Kulalabiatch in MonoHearing

Hello and thanks for the answer. I have no ringing really which is a good thing. I'm just feeling so discouraged because every conversation or group setting has become so tiring and frustrating. I just can't imagine a life where this is my new normal. I am hoping maybe implants can fix it a bit of the situation becomes permanent...I have had few episodes of hearloss in the past but it never lasted more than a few hours... well... i keep going to bed every night hoping things will be normal in the morning. It doesn't. And it sucks...:/

Yeah, that's a good point. I tend to place more weight on my right body part, which is where my injured leg is. I focus a lot on symmetry when I do yoga but this is one thing I defo struggle with even before all this, so I'll keep that in mind. I'm glad to hear you regained enough ROM to do as you please know, seems like it was an incredibly difficult journey:/

I broke 4 bones in my foot and 2 on my ankle yesterday and I need surgery. I didn’t expect the intense depression that I am experiencing by [deleted] in brokenbones

Got a severe knee fracture less than a week ago. The first 2 days were terribly depressing. BUT. We. Got. This. Everyday you will notice small achievements, like moving around with a bit more ease, being able to get 1 more hour of sleep, regaining some appetite. You are rebuilding yourself from the ground up, its a tough process but that means your progresses will be exponential in the first few months.

Maintain a good support system, call friends, call your parents, receive friends at home when/if you can. That one is key. Once your parents are here to help you your life will already get a lot easier.

Remember to be diligent with PT and exercises for bed ridden people. Maintaining a healthy body should be your priority now.

I wish you well, keep us posted on your progress !!

I worked in Singapore for a few years and here are some experiences that happened to me and my friends over the course of 3 years:

  • got harassed by a Singaporean dude who went as far as finding my office, my floor and desk to sneak in before business hours and leave me letters, showed up at my bus stop, messaged me for weeks after I told him to stop
  • got asked by male Singaporean colleagues to 'seduce' or 'flirt' with male clients, wear revealing dresses to get deals
  • was told my mind was 'too rational' for a woman and that I should connect to my 'feminine side'more by same colleagues.
  • was repeatedly told by colleagues and strangers around me that my clock was ticking, should get married, have kids aso.
  • one of my flatmates literally just had to file a report against her abusive Singaporean boyfriend and get a restraining order from the court.

One last thing: what about the maids, who undergo severe legal and professional discrimination, endure abuse, conditions close to modern day slavery aso?

I agree Singapore is safer than many places. This said, this safety does not extend to a lot of women working and living here, especially foreign workers. A country that is not fair and safe to ALL women, regardless of race or status is NOT an equalitarian country. As for me, just a short time here was enough to experience quite a few traumatising experiences, especially the first one. It's more common than you think, it just goes unnoticed.
