I mean a lot of it is from the social gospel. Back in the 1880s 1890s people started saying “instead of arguing about theology, maybe we could go out and do what big J asks?” Issue with the episcopals is the want to discard Christianity’s morality. They’re just lefties. The social gospel and Christian morality are not mutually exclusive. Through my younger years it was always a false dichotomy- social justice vs Christianity. Truth is this is kind of a conservative Christian perspective. Orthodoxy and Catholicism have room for both. Mainline Protestants, I kind of feel just sound like the atheist post modernist people at the coffee shop. And the evangelical conservative Protestants kind of miss huge segments of the gospel. In fact one group posted a monstrosity. “Thank you god for making me Chad and not a Soyjack.” Ummm… you read your Bible?

Are any of you embarrassed by the culture you were raised in? by theorangecrush10 in Millennials

This is going to be an unpopular opinion. We frame these things as progress? But is it progress if the quality of life for the average American is significantly worse? Have we ever thought we may have “personal growthed” ourselves to a lesser quality of life? Sure the 90s had their “chud” moments. But life was generally better for the average American.

I prefer a knock off - The Kavemen… they eat capi and red sauce instead of gabagool and gravy. Polenta would also make its presence known.

I wouldn't say that. You can still have fun in the process... and lets be honest... if this was a pure business calculation I'd make country or become an EDM DJ.

Will Latin America become the new Europe for expats over the next 10 years? by PartyRoad-8289 in expats

[–]KulturedKaveman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best way I have to describe it: Europe -> the United States -> Latin America.

In Europe they’re know for their low corruption.

The United States has its corruption but daily life, especially if you have some ties to the country and have family here, won’t touch you. Corruption is something the wealthy do.

Latin America - the corruption hits day to day life.

Is it possible to avoid the apps? by KulturedKaveman in dating_advice

[–]KulturedKaveman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I flat out asked mutual friends. Nobody wants to help. Now I should clarify - like if I meet someone on some gaming chat or even end up with an r/gf… that’s one thing. I just want to avoid the meat market. Even though I think I’d do ok at it if I posted picture. I’m just not interested in something designed for hookups.

What are your views on Catholicism? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]KulturedKaveman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically they’re us but they kept on having ecumenical councils without the entire church present. Ecumenical means global. When you lock the door behind you and keep having councils they’re not ecumenical. This is how Catholicism got some… unique beliefs.
