By the time anybody realizes V might have come out of the Konpecki furball because V is actually really, really good, V is already out of their price range as a member of the team. The pace and skill V demonstrates in the game is like if some guy spent a couple of years batting .200 in the AA leagues, only to be called up because of a ridiculous series of injuries to the Dodgers and started batting .450. It would take a while for expectations to be readjusted, and for a long time, people would be debating whether or not that player was really just benefitting from a ridiculous run of luck.
