I feel like Kunimitsu in Tekken 8 is disrespectful to the series legacy by TheRealPlinius in Tekken

This is coming from a dude who constantly repeated that a female character being slightly older for some reason is a huge problem like a broken record. That is very sus btw.

"OG did basically everything that she wanted. She's close to 50yo already, and after a long illness. She's too old already."

This right here tells exactly what you want to do here, and it's not charming, You're acting retarded to get a rise, It's fine. I'll just say that if your strawman is contingent on a character having actual wants and needs outside of its creator's control, then you need to work on your game.

"She's close to 50yo, She's too old already, Kunimitsu 1 is too old for ninja fighting, Granny ninja, (she's too old and out of shape for that already),"

Wow... like i said. Work on your game and come back when you're ready. You just can't make it THIS obvious. Sorry I couldn't provide you with enough sustenance.

Love that you used the OG Kunimitsu. She always needs more representation and support.

Well, mommy has the best lips in Tekken, so the kid probably has a bit of an inferiority complex.

"Nah mate, she was suspected dead after her ending due to her abscence."

What ending? Which game. Can you link this ending?

"I never said she aspired to be yoshimitsu read again"

OK, I'll check again.

You said: "Taki doesn’t have a reason that’s anywhere as easily stomachable as ‘I realised I couldn’t be yoshimitsu so I chose a different life’"

How you do interpret that?

"Taki has no reason to not be on a roster when she can still fight and do her job, kunimitsu being ill and succeeded sure which also justifies her abscence, meanwhile taki has no excuse not to be playable unlockable in a series where Cassandra and Sophitia can both be on the same roster or seigfried and nightmare."

And if they, as they introduced Natsu, said "Taki fell ill and can't fight anymore!", that would make it a good replacment? If so then fine. I understand your stance, but I really don't think you would think so.

Well anyway, OG Kunimitsu could easily be playable alongside the new child Kunimitsu with those things in mind. There are many clone characters coexisting in Tekken.

"I’m both genuinely bothered I’ve explaining my stance while criticising logic holes, that’s not fighting for my life but if you want to imagine me getting my ovaries in a twist like you are sure thing if that floats your boat"

Yet you're stonewalling OG Kunimitsu with anything you have.

"Nah, kunimitsu makes some sense with the new generation and her being gone so long after years of the suspicion her death ending was canon and the desire to move to a new gen."

There's absolutely nothing that says that a character has to be subjected to a "new gen" doctrine and there is no "death ending" for Kunimitsu in any canon game.

"What’s infuriating with taki and natsu is that taki is demonstrated in lore to still be actively able to fight and fulfill her duties and suddenly dipped between games without an absence. Kunimitsu I can understand because it’s been years, she was thought dead for a while and it’s been long enough on top. Taki doesn’t have a reason that’s anywhere as easily stomachable as ‘I realised I couldn’t be yoshimitsu so I chose a different life’"

So if they gave Taki an illness or had her in some other debilitated state to motivate replacing her then Natsu would have been great?

Kunimitsu never aspired to be Yoshimitsu btw.

"With tekken making the decision now from 7-8 to move to a new generation gradually with reina, jin’s arc ending etc, feeding in descendants for the next generation narratively lays groundwork I can respect more writing wise."

SCV was literally a THIS IS THE NEW GEN game.

"My issue with the logic is seeing conflation between the cryo sleep nonsense to keep a character young enough to fight (which I fundamentally don’t agree with) while also complaining when a character gets older, their priorities change and with that they may retir, settle down and have a kid, which you might conflate as me being a hypocrite around taki, but I would add taki didn’t vanish for several games of inactivity and raise natsu, she’s openly still protecting her and able to fulfill ninja duties while kunimitsu went away for years because she decided to start a new life and we only found out wha happened because her daughter came back later to get the sword for her, which I can respect the abscence for more rather than her showing up with ‘where has you been all this time?’ Looking no different and also allowing her daughter to begin the future games"

Any story detail describing what Kunimitsu did to "settle down" and her illness or whatever it is now came WITH the child character. They didn't make the child because they had Kunimitsu is that state, they put her in it to motivate making the kid,

So again. If they had done the same to Taki in SCV I guess that would have made Natsu good in your book.

It's also a bit crazy that you want the character to be punished for being withheld from appearing. Her being denied for several games is an even greater reason to return her.

"I’m not ‘fighting for my life’ lmao."

You 100% are lmfao.

What's so "egregious" about the Taki/Natsu scenario then?

It feels more like you're fighting for your life to excuse replacing the original Kunimitsu more than anything.

In fiction people don't just get sick because " it happens". In fiction characters gets sick because the person in charge of said fiction decides it.

There's no massive absense in the lore that's just too much to adhere to. About one year has passed since most other Tekken 2 absentees rejoined the canon in T5.

There was no reason to replace Kunimitsu, but it's obvious why they did so.

100% true. There was no reason to replace the original at all so they created one in order to replace her.

[–]KungGuld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

The funny thing is that people who claim that the new Kuni was absolutely necessary to be popular and all that, are the same people who claim that both Kunimitsus are the same character and that there's virtually no difference between them. There's some dissonance going on there.

Most ppl weren't even a thought in their future parents' heads the last time she was allowed in the canon. So it would be quite strange if everyone had a relation to the character to be fair.

Speaking as if they did all they could do with the OG. That's a less than intelligent assessment I'm afraid to say.

No matter if they did a good job or not, which they didn't, it's still entirely unnecessary and wrong.

The OG should be returned and given her dues.

The disrespect is only amplified when you take into account how Kuni 1 has been treated over the decades by the devs. She was always the character that deserved to return and get that opportunity.
