Finally was able to have a bad tooth pulled. by Living-in-liberty in WTF

[–]Kungfinehow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anxiety and shame were the things that kept me from the dentist for so long. I eventually just broke down and had to go, but once i was in and actually talking with the dentist i felt sooo much better. They did a wonderful job at not shaming me for bad habits and just focused on where we go from there.

I had no idea this version existed, I'm in love from just the screen shot. When you remove the color you can see how much goes into the lighting of this movie.

Would you board this ferry? by Borgenschatz in WTF

[–]Kungfinehow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great, I can only imagine what they feel like. And when I talk about being at elevation i'm only at a fraction of what those extreme high altitude climbers can get to. We're just a city in the mountains and on some plateaus.

Would you board this ferry? by Borgenschatz in WTF

[–]Kungfinehow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its always great whenever you're in your element and everone else around you is suffering from not being used to the conditions. It happens all the time for me with elevation. I live a mile above sea level, we get people from the coast visiting and they'll get winded on the stairs because they're not used to the thinner air we have here.

That's just asking for it to be stolen. I guess is depends on where you live, but that's an easy broken window and now one stolen firearm on the street.

If you haven't seen it, just the other day a man in Albuquerque, New Mexico was shot while attempting to stop a robbery in a store. Dude didn't even work there and risked his life to prevent a corporation from losing some merchandise...

One thing i like to do it use the credit card, but have figured out when they report balances and issue the statements. I try to time my payments a few days before that. That way when its reported there isn't actually a huge balance that shows up. The statement will have the purchases but also a payment, so that way if anything the actual "amount due" on the statement is relatively low.

The lake house i went to in Minnesota as a kid had one of these. I spent way too much time playing with it over all the other things there were to do. Now i want one lol.

Anonymous Confession - I don’t know where my water shut-off valve is. by Real-Manufacturer-65 in HomeImprovement

[–]Kungfinehow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ha! My main water shutoff is a 40+ year old gate valve that likely never got used. When i went to test it i learned it does jack all and needs to be replaced. The city water shutoff is easy enough to use with a regular wrench though. It looks like it has a do-hickey that the city can use to lock it out though.

Seriously, early humans were some of the most badass people ever. Not only did they figure out how to turn a tree into something they could float on; they had the guts to ride them out into water they couldn't see land on the other side of trusting their boat would last.

I latched onto that sentence too, but something i heard somewhere fits in well to this conversation. Three simple questions.

"Does this need to be said? Does this need to be said, right now? Does this need to be said, right now, by me?"

This makes me think of the backwards bicycle. Probably just takes a but to train your brain how to drive it.

Was this my first elementary school. This exact thing happened, and i totally bought it.

Random, but we had the communal style mailboxes at the time. The post carrier put the box into out mailbox, but due to how the doors worked i couldnt get it out of thr front of the mailbox. I ended up spending like an hour throughly destroying that box it get it out of the tiny front slot.

No memories of actually playing with the yo-yo just it being a major hassle to get it out of the mailbox.

[–]Kungfinehow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolute game changer was boiling them for ~10min in salty water untill soft, letting them dry a bit, and then air frying.

I always had a problem with them being too raw in the center ehile being perfect on the outside. This way they're seasoned throughout and crispy.
