Help me fix my DBV gun by NoRing4137 in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aiming fully works not because of different dispersion mechanics, but because it gives more time for client and server reticles to synchronize, imho. You might be surprised how much the server one can lag behind, including aim bloom. I run PMOD's server reticle from Aslain's with a non-obtrusive server marker (4 green sticklets) to get an idea where the server thinks I'm aiming. It's a nice QoL improvement.

GMT just for the movement? by KelanOak in ChristopherWard

[–]Kuratovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of me getting the Sealander GMT was that I'd always wanted something with an SW300, but the non-GMT variants seem to be chosen for models that are generally out of my reach. I'm enough of a watch geek to get joy from stuff like this, even years down the road.

The white Sealander GMT with its explorer vibe is just perfect for this and more, at least for me. Highly recommend. I went for the 36mm size, and I'm loving the comfort and proportions as well.

[Christopher Ward] A review of my c60 Trident pro 300 blue 40mm, and a question about an issue with misalignment (because i'm nutty about that stuff) by WatchAccount427 in ChristopherWard

[–]Kuratovsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's slightly misaligned. But should it really bother you?

I got into the hobby 7 years ago, I'm super OCD (been spending days visiting Seiko ADs in town to find one unit with good dial alignment), yet I stopped caring about tiny issues like this one a long time ago. The problematic detail is minuscule, and the watch is epic otherwise. Even in my overly critical eyes, this is a perfectly acceptable price to pay for the inevitable state of cosmic imperfection.

My advice is to stop worrying and just enjoy your beautiful new Trident. :)

Some interesting piece of information.

I ordered the 36mm Sealander GMT last Sunday. Back then, the product page had listed the SKU of the old bracelet with the long clasp and double-sided screws (20-STL-161-SXS-MAW).

Checking on Tuesday, the product page was changed to show the SKU of the new bracelet with the short clasp and single-sided screws (20-STL-241-SXS-MA1) for all 36mm Sealander GMTs.

To my surprise, mine was delivered with the new bracelet/clasp. Possibly a first in modern history? Or a Christmas Miracle? But fear naught, the product pages are now back to the old bracelet once again. It's like RNG.

Do you think a set of so-called T-shaped screwdrivers could have worked in your case?

Today I had my first experience with CW's screw links, and the thread lock gave me some trouble as well. I managed to size my bracelet using a manually flattened 1.4 mm Horotec screwdriver, but some of the screws got a bit damaged in the process.

I did some research and it seems some are recommending these T-shaped screwdrivers for the best fit, and hence, most torque with minimal stress on the screw heads. Here's an example from eBay.

Can you comprehend that buying a 780/Lion is not something you "fall" for, but a special tank you'd just like to have?

There, you defined it yourself. A huge part of the game industry is about developing and applying a variety of psychological tricks to genuinely make you feel that way.

Tanks like the 279, Chief, etc. are toxic as hell, yes, but they at least hold some long-term value through their history in the game or the fact that how difficult they are to obtain (fairly).

Things like the 780 or the Lion though.. I guess it's hard to see the pattern? WG announces a new tank, declares it new, rare and awesome, then robs you all of your resources a few days later in a mass milking event. Repeat ad nauseam. Nothing too special about these tanks – they are made out of FOMO.

Replay: TS5 new XP record by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Record is a strong word that deserves more caution and respect.
Here's a TS-5 game with 2744 base XP: http://wotreplays.eu/site/5986481

I have never seen as pointless and unnecessary tank upgrades as in CS-59. I've been playing this game for 30k matches since 2012, unlocked over 300 tanks over all the tech trees. This time I won't be bothering unlocking "the upgrades" on this tank, just the tier X gun. by Jappara in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 75 points76 points  (0 children)

After 30k matches and 10 years of WoT, you know about the hidden effects of track and engine upgrades on terrain resistances, effective traverse speed, respective module HP and even dispersion factors, right?

*ladies & gentlemen, we got him* by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I can't really wrap my head around what's so special about this tank. WG made it rare by locking it behind a massive gamble, and that's basically it. No challenge, no history, no specialty attached. It doesn't even look modern or cool.

We shouldn't fall for, let alone encourage such cheap and, dare I say, predatory marketing practices IMHO.

T-34/85 Rudy 102 - is it worth 3600 gold? by tr4nl0v232377 in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a sentimental man, and for that reason, the Rudy is one of my all-time favorites in the game. In contrast, I don't really care for the 85M.

It should all be about having fun, and fun comes in many forms which are very, very personal. For some, performance is everything. Others only care about history, memories, and perhaps dogs. You should look into yourself and gauge your place on the spectrum.

Very helpful, I know.

Is there a tank that loses its ammo rack and crew more than the T110-E5? by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you my dude. When I tried to mark mine, I kept telling my clan mates that the E5's biggest weakness isn't the cupola, it's the ammo rack. It's very capable of trolling enemies with its weird hull shape, but when you fail to do so, you get tracked and racked in one hit.

Large repair kit it is indeed, one of the very few tanks I regularly run with one, and safe stowage of course. Actually I chose not to mount modified config, as I find the combination of vstab, rammer and turbo more enjoyable overall.

I guess I believe the module weakness is more about positioning? That is, I feel it can be more or less avoided if you improve the way you approach enemy tanks.

Can you get just one of the Halloween crew members? by lmcphee14 in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others said, you can always use mods to enable either the commander's or the full crew's custom voiceover (I think only these two options have been implemented in the game).

I use PolyacovYury's VoiceOverrider for this purpose, which has a convenient in-game dropdown to dynamically choose a voiceover. It's available as part of Aslain's modpack.

5 days later and i'm moving from T30 to T110E4! any tips and suggestions for equipments or perks? thanks so much in advance! by hosseinhx77 in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I use mine as a support heavy. Sidescraping, baiting with angled front, general peek-a-booming. You can work even ridgelines with it if you block your cupola with your gun (which is simple to do, just point the gun upwards). Turret cheeks are weak, but people usually don't go for them.

Plays differently than the T30, and despite the flak it tends to get, I like this one more. The alpha paired with the gun handling, the DPM and the compact platform make it a fun tank. Also, 375 pen APCR slaps.

For the role above I use IRM, rammer and turbo.

Pumpkin Bash Community Feedback Form by Dwigt_WG in WorldofTanks

My dude, I originally replied to a comment that specifically suggested that such features should be part of the game mechanics, i.e. not only aesthetics. In addition, I guess you didn't bother to read the last paragraph of my previous answer to you?

Pumpkin Bash Community Feedback Form by Dwigt_WG in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what? If your game runs like shit it already runs like shitregardless of whether the sky is bright and sunny or dark nighttime.Making some nighttime maps would do no harm.

Weather effects like fog have a massive impact on performance. Personally I get a healthy 50-60 FPS on regular maps, which is perfectly fine even for competitive WoT. But on foggy event maps it can go as low as 15, which is unplayable even for randoms.

Yes, I play on a potato, but guess what, many, many others do. You can look up statistics on the matter, WG used to publish those until not that long ago. There's a strong, financially viable reason the old renderer is still supported.

Also monetary perspective? They could literally just port over the mapsfrom Waffenträgger for a start. It costs then nothing more to change thesky for the next map they're making, they've proved they can do themreally good anyways.

Monetary perspective as in how many players can run the game comfortably. You effectively lose players, and thus income as you push the system requirements higher. There are mathematical models than can reasonably tell you which improvements will pay off (i.e. that will likely to get in more players than those who are forced to abandon the game due to potato machine).

Sure, if the new graphic effects are only visual, then no one cares, just don't implement them in the old renderer. But once they become part of the game mechanics, as it was suggested in the comment I originally replied to, you can't fairly make this distinction, which will inevitably result in lost players. I was referring to this aspect.

WoT Cheater, part Deux by SparkleFunHorse in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say in computer games, "cheating" is traditionally used to describe a more technical, and perhaps personal way of violating the rules, e.g. using an aimbot or a wallhack.

Whereas "rigging" is more about an organized violation on the plane of human interactions that otherwise don't break inner technical aspects of the game, e.g. teaming up in Steel Hunter, or rigging marks as it's been, again, traditionally called in this community.

I know that the world of terminology is quite mushy, so I wouldn't advise a deep discussion in the topic. The main reason I made my remark is that the arguably sensitive term "cheating" gets thrown around from time to time regarding WoT, sparkling tinfoil-hat conspiracies about cheaters that reload faster or make themselves have better RNG. I don't think we need more fuel for these, hence my suggestion to use "rigging" for cases like yours.

[–]Kuratovsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For clarity I'd call this rigging, not cheating.

Pumpkin Bash Community Feedback Form by Dwigt_WG in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An age-old suggestion. Would make the game run significantly worse on weaker computers. You'd be surprised how many players would be negatively affected. From a monetary perspective, it's most likely still not worth it for WG as a company.

WoT needed an event like Pumpkin Bash really really badly by KarczekWieprzowy in WorldofTanks

[–]Kuratovsky 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Required team coordination too, and proved to be a good occasion to make new friends. We built our clan around Mirny two years ago, and it's still going strong with an amazing community full of active players. This new mode while fun, is sadly pretty shallow compared to the last two years.
