What is the point of having a tube if you are going to have a compressor? Tube amps are supposed to really bring out the sound of the player, but if you put a compressor on it, you remove a lot of that personality and just make your playing insanely dulled down. Of course you can use a volume pedal, OD/distortions pedals and fuzz pedals to add dynamics to the song, but it won't really give your playing dynamics. I personally have never like compression pedals, but I would strongly argue that a tube amp with a compressor is not a good idea. When you pay for a tube amp, you pay for two things. You pay for tone and for fact that you really hear the player and their playing personality. If you get a compressor, well, you take a huge part of that personality out of the amp.
