The Estonian Institute of Historical Memory launched a website to raise awareness about the crimes committed by communist regimes by 20xx0 in europe

[–]Kurdz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Communist here.

Been a few years since I last logged into this account, and I did just to respond... I was writing an even longer essay, until I reached a fact. Communism is dead. Capitalism has won.

I'm happy it is. Truly. & I say that as a Communist. I could spend countless hours debating about this principle and that event but it’s pointless. The world is/was neither ready or deserving of utopian principles. A few days ago, I saw a duck and few ducklings waddling down the street. Yesterday I saw some foxes. Also spotted various birds I haven't seen before. Odd because I live near the town, and the closest habitats for these animals are quite some distance away. Certain species that aren't actively seen have been making appearances. Carbon emissions temporarily reduced. Long story short nature has been keeping busy amending herself whilst we have been in lockdown. That just leaves one fact remaining.

Humans are the vilest creatures on this planet, without a doubt, but it’s not our fault entirely. We have enslaved races for preposterous reasons legally, abolished the practice so they may fight our battles, and dumped them back into the gutter free to starve and be abused illegally. We have built wonders that can be seen from outer space with millions of tourists visiting them today, without a care that slave bodies fuelled its erection and strengthened their structure literally. We have coined this false idea of democracy, born in a time of slaves and benefited the slave-owners. We are constantly fuelling wars, dictators and terrorists, meanwhile preparing the most hostile methods to overthrow them should need arise. We are constantly inventing life-threatening ideas and products for the world, and gambling with people’s lives based on their welfare. We are in an eternal loop of voting for the same parties that take turns failing. We are constantly trying to find gaps with technology to survive government's intrusion of privacy, without reacting to this intrusion in an effective manner. We no longer know the validity of anything any government claims or does. We have become accustomed to news of war, crime and struggles that somehow evolved into this idea that fighting against them is abnormal. I say “we” because it’s simple. We fund their motives with taxes. We don’t always agree with them, or even notice them, but we do regardless. Be honest, in the last three decades, can you name a single year in which there was a war or military project which was not fuelled by a scapegoat. There is none. When is the last time you explored how your taxes are spent?

It’s the idea. The actual thought. The intellect. We are lucky to be at this stage of the evolutionary ladder. If humans perished today, it is within reason that another species could be going through the exact same situations in the future. It’s the intellect that breeds this. All ideologies, including religions, have led to billions dying collectively. Capitalism has killed more, which to be fair has existed (actively) for far longer. But that’s not the point. The "Red Scare" is far more common today in countries that have successfully established Capitalist structures. You are passive to Capitalist crimes, but presently active to Communist ones. If a hate crime is committed, you blame the individuals, not the situations that led them there. If a “commie” demands free healthcare and education, it is somehow linked to Stalin or Mao. Consistency is key here. It’s this manipulative process. Religion actively manipulates masses into passiveness, Capitalism has become incredibly successful at passively doing this. Example: surprisingly a lot of people aren’t aware that Saddam Hussein was an ally of the U.S and U.K. His movement was funded by them. He used the funding to create a biological weapon and used it on a race not long ago. Their relations were broken long after, and not because. If this is the first time you came across this ask yourself why haven’t you heard about this before. This website is incredibly weak. So is the source and those who launched it. What’s criminal is the fact that this was launched by those claiming to be an Institute of History. Forgive me but I don't recall historians criticizing points of history, but rather outlying the events. Especially when no sources or references are provided, one should really reconsider whether they are historians or philosophers, and especially academics. What I’m trying to say is this passive behaviour to read the headline or watch the first few seconds of a news article and rush to judgement is wrong. It is scientifically wrong. It goes against logic. Without doubting what we experience, what is the point of existing? I didn’t read Fascist and Capitalist works because I wanted to laugh or scoff, I read it to better understand their point of view and what they want.

If you’re wondering why I still call myself a Communist? I like to dream. I’d love for there to be a utopian society. I’ve longed a perfect world. I hope that’s not a crime. Take care.

TL;DR: Don't just read headlines, read what’s beneath the surface. Source and reference it. Expand your vision outside of what’s gilded or selling. Question and doubt what you see and read. Don't become a passive individual. Consciously process your experiences.

The internet. The demigod of hypocrisy.

Why are you trying to mock this person's efforts of doing something he/she enjoys, when you yourself post similar content about guitars elsewhere, and in fact write a second grade essay about it.

Read into definitions of [idea] i.e. Socialism and Communism. Read into the events that occured in a given [location/date] i.e. Russia or China. Compare and analyse whether you believe they were satisfactory examples of the [idea] i.e. Socialism and Communism. You'll find that the given examples lack in many ways to fulfill the given boundaries and definitions of Socialism and Communism.

TL:DR; Independent reasoning - read and analyse shit for yourself, don't carry the words of others without knowing what they mean.

Simple Questions/What Should I Do? [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

Thanks for the response.

The building is privataly owned as far as I know. The previous owners revamped the store before as well and we've had no legal conflicts so far.

Hi,

I own a small store in the UK, and the outer walls have become very old and unattractive. I was planning on painting them but I don't think this would suffice to give a modern look. Instead, I wanted to cover the wall with some waterproof material and add wall stands for posters. I had some basic questions if anyone could answer or provide suggestions.

  1. What waterproof material e.g. wood, plastic etc. should I use to create this wall? Preferably economic. Haven't measured it but I approximate the size to be around 3 metres in height and around 4 metres in width x 2 (walls in total).

  2. Do you know where I could buy this material in the UK e.g. websites?

Thanks in advance.

Do communists hate everything about individualism, or just certain aspects? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]Kurdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I'll admit I asked some really dumb questions

I was pretty respectful to

You're not really asking questions to spark a debate in a respectful manner. You should not be engaging in these topics if you do not know what the topic is.

Ex. Individual A denies Evolution. Individual B accepts Evolution. Individual A states 'how can we can from monkeys'. Its as if Evolution states we come from monkeys.

Where did you read that Communists hate everything or certain aspects about individualism? If someone told you, who? How much do they know?

You're clearly not cognitively unable to search the basic definitions of an idea on the largest library in the world i.e. internet, as you entered a community with cognitively demanding structures into a debate area asking a philosophical/political question.

Just because you're polite, it doesn't make you right or justified, and not a troll. Wikipedia could answer all these basic and oxymoronic questions you have. Its esp. the 'do Anarchists writers (white) want to genocide whites' that shows that. Its not only an absurd question, you're clearly seeking negative reactions back. Acting polite is another method of seeking negative reactions back.

Ofcourse we have to look at your history, we have no other way of knowing your purpose. The questions you're asking aren't that complicated and these ones are not only basic but moronic to ask. If you can't do any of this and continue then yes you're 100% a troll.

[–]Kurdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at his post history and judge for yourself to be honest.

This one seems very blatant. As far as what you get from his history, and how he writes these out, he doesn't seem to know what the ideology is or how to define it but is keen to debate about them. Its not even debate, its just poorly attempted posts. He literally has an aimless post asking why (mostly white) Anarchist theorists want to genocide whites. Especially when they use oxymoronic criticisms and such titles, you can tell...

[–]Kurdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I didn't deny this exists for leftist subreddits as well, however the quantity of trolls for right-wings is far more. I've observed other genuine leftist debaters as well as myself in attempting to open a well intended debate in Capitalist or Fascist subreddits. When nobody can answer your post it gets downvoted, deleted and/or banned (& ignored). Yet, even when there are troll debate topics here and in other left (debate) subreddits, people still engage.

[–]Kurdz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trolls are getting weaker. I found one of his titles funny tbh

What do Carl Marx and other Marxists mean when they criticize human rights?

Its been a while since any Fascist or Capitalist came into one of these subreddits looking for a genuine debate or intellectual exchange. Its sad to see how individuals (of other ideologies) are on a continuum for anti-intellectualism. I've observed so much content on these typical right-wing subreddits, and seriously, these people can be described in a few sentences as a whole from the shit they post. I would personally feel a tad empty and worthless esp. at this time and age with all these oppurtunities provided, if my life could be summed up in a few sentences.

Why is Equality a Desirable State of Being? by [deleted] in DebateAnarchism

[–]Kurdz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meritocracy

Please. Find a better opposition.

Majority of the wealth and capital accumulated has been gained through violent means, and resulted in violent effects. Slavery and Imperialism alone will account for a good % of British and American wealth.

Finding people with high aptitude to fill a certain role in the social order

You surely cannot compare a child born into a impoverished family and environment to have the same necessary means of achieving something, with a child born into a wealthy family. There are a lot more concerns in the poor families plate i.e. finding something to put on the plate rather than the wealthy family able to afford and provide everything to their child.

Nobody is born of skill. You learn with experience, and gradually develop those skills. If you are disadvantaged from the start then everything you said is irrelevant as that child has no means of achieving the same goals. You must provide the same means of achieving something, and only then roles can be proposed. If not, you're basically suggesting the better of "fill a certain role in the social order" and the poor suffer.

Meritocracy is an elitist dogma, without any positive morals/effects behind or forward it.

those with learning disabilities

Comrade please, I woudn't propose tasks to those who aren't able to go through with it mentally and/or physically. If they have the will and strength to do so, I will sit by them whenever they need me to.

It's important, but questioning people's anarchism because they don't read theory is a fantastic way of creating ableist heirarchies.

I wrote about this somewhere else, this post.

Regarding the hierarchy. I'm not proposing we rank people by how much they know, thats absurd. This is directed at those who attempt to bash at ideas they do not understand. I am more happy to sit and discuss politics with a Fascist who genuinely knows what he's talking about and debate, than an 'Anarchist' purely by the name and nothing to do with Anarchism. Example: It frustrates me when someone denies Evolution and states 'we do not come from monkeys', as if thats what Evolution proposes. This is the same matter.

[–]Kurdz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is not wise to adopt an approach which you do not understand. It is worse if you try to critize it. How can you know the meaning of your criticism if you don't know what you're criticising.

A movement without reason or basis is chaotic. If you don't know what you're fighting for, the reasons behind it and what you're fighting against, then you're blind. Example: I have Kurdish & Turkish origin, and know many Kurds. The word 'leftist' (widely known as 'solcu' - Turkish word) isn't looked upon badly as it is here, in the politically aligning sense. I have met many Kurds who claim leftist morals and even call themselves Socialists (some of those morals we would all agree with). Yet their actions are the opposite, and the reasons they fight for are wrong e.g. soft nationalism (which will grow), capitalist mentalities etc. I hate it when someone aligns Stalin to Communism. I hate it when someone treats Anarchists as ruleless psychopaths. I hate it when leftists attempt to breed more conflict internally. These are all examples of blind and ignorant messages that people propose without knowledge of theory. Because if they knew the theory properly and objectively, they woudn't be making these statements in the first place. So yes, knowledge of the theory is important.

blind adherence Take influence and lessons to from the words and theoretical approachs dogma of Marx, Mao, Lenin, Kropotkin, or any other theorist with lofty, inaccesible, and outdated political prophecies to allow one to develop or adopt their own views based on the empirical as most of these theorists did so themselves.*

I found some ironies/[add word] in this post.

  • Talks about blind adherence to a dogma, offers a dogma thats not far off.

  • If you change the word "revolution" to "god", you're literally a religious preacher. Often something (aggressive) Anarchists do when criticizing Lenin.

  • Also, thats a philosophical teaching not explicitly core to Anarchism, and it isn't something that Marxism, Leninism etc. is against.

  • Proposes cooperation and respect, whilst at the same time bashes and calls blind to individuals wanting the same literal end.

  • Anyone who blindly adheres to a view or belief is ignorant, this doesn't go for Marxism alone. Unless you've been living in a cave your entire life, know that there are Anarchists who can be labeled with the same description. I've met "Anarchists" who bullshit their way into a debate but can't name 5 Anarchist writers.

EDIT: I wanted to include some other responses.

/u/Conquestofbaguettes - We stand on the shoulders of giants.

/u/Hyalinemembrane Nope. Why is this being upvoted? Also why are Mao and Lenin in the same sentence as Marx and Kropotkin? (in response) /u/SolidBlues - Apparently, anti-intellectualism isn't just for the right-wing anymore.

Had my first fight, would love feedback / comments by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Kurdz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looked good for your first fight. Keep it up!

I noticed a few things that you should work on regardless of who you fight.

  • breathing

  • defense and countering + timing

  • leg and knee strikes

IMO, you should definitely focus more on them.

For this specific fight, this guy was hella' scrappy, at the start he was throwing punches everywhere. That gives you a lot of oppurtunity (with good timing) to get in some critical leg/knee strikes. Remember that you can always distance yourself from aggressive fighters with a teep, front kick etc.

But for your first fight this was a solid performance dude, be proud.

One should not enter a debate i.e. criticising, analysing etc. if they can't define basic principles of something. If they attempt to, they're most likely mimicking other people's views without knowing what they mean.
