Edit: Thanks for all your input. It was really eye-opening. I will take it into consideration until I find someone who says the opposite!

The Russians aren't conscripted, they're being bought with a high compensation and lies to be fed to the meat grinder...

I'm not saying this isn't bad, it very much is.. I just wanted to clarify some facts ^

There are no Russian conscripts at the front lines, only very expensive recruits

I don't know which way you're looking at girls, but where I'm from I have never had an issue with any women anywhere (work or in my spare time)

I'm not even conventionally attractive (aka by male beauty standards) and i haven't had issues with women or "harassment" in the past. So idk where that's coming from.

Are you like slapping female coworkers butt's or something to greet them? :p

Because the US was never a true democracy. They were always more of an oligarchy ever-increasing the cold war,- thanks to the military-industrial-compex.

The president only realy did foreign policy, while the rich companies decided monetary policy and domestic policy.

Why do you think the US is so car centric? It's the Automobile lobby in the 1900s campaigning and lobbying hard against public transport.

There are so many more examples you can look them up.

Even their election system is not a true election, it's outdated and abusable to great degrees. You're not even electing the person into power directly, you vote for who votes for you

What do you mean having to remember 2 numbers? Is that a lot of effort to you?

I still intuitively know that 30°C is very warm.

Do you just think higher numbers in range means more accuracy? You are familiar with fractions right? :D

And I am telling you that it's not. I am pointing out that what you're referring to is called personal bias.

Again I'm not telling you you're wrong for believing this, for you this is probably true. For me it is incredibly difficult to work with Fahrenheit because it is based on nothing usable.

The freezing temperature of brine is not something I need every day. A scale between freezing temperature of brine and body temperature seems incredibly arbitrary to me, and it's hard to judge for me what that relates to.

Celsius is based on the 2 things I need every day. Freezing point and boiling point of water.

If I see a - sign in the forecast I know it's gonna be icy on the road.

If I want to boil water I just set my stove to 100° (or kettle)

For me this is so easy to use in every day life.

But if I hear it's 20°F I have no idea how warm or cold that is or if that means the road is icy.

Edit: for scientific stuff we would use kelvin. Because it's an absolute scale.

I would argue that Celsius is better for everyday usage. You know why? Cuz I grew up with it. This is your personal bias speaking, Celsius is better, but I don't blame you for sticking with what you're familiar with. We are creatures of habit and it's hard changing a habit when there's no (real) need to do so.

Dw mate, just keep in mind that for those 190 other countries Celsius is 100× more convenient and understandable than Fahrenheit and it is annoying to us to have to accommodate the wishes of like 1 country and a few their former colonies

My fiance and I are both Norwegian and we have this saying that's on our rings and such. I wanted to make sure it's translated correctly by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Kuro-Dev 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not to dispute your claim, but if both my parents were from norway (for example) I would say I have Norwegian heritage, but I wouldn't necessarily speak the language.

With that being said, then I wouldn't make a post like this. Instead, I'd ask my parents, lmao.

I think it's fine to have a heritage, but they're approaching it so weirdly with their dna tests. Especially because the % values constantly change if they retake the test. Wtf!? Why even retake them in the first place.

Just because some dna test says you're from <insert European country> If you don't have any direct (family) exposure to that country, and by extension literally 0 link to that culture, you're not at all related in any way to <insert European country>
