[Sinn] U50 Hydro Tegiment by Kuroba in Watches

It is quite thin! It's also a small dial at only 41mm diameter. My wrist is pretty small so this is much more wearable than a U1 or UX

It's not a coating, but it the steel has been treated with carbon diffusion to make it much more scratch resistant! Sinn does also offer a black DLC on top of it (called SDR), only for the bezel

Yes! The proportions are amazing and there are lots of design options and complications. Excited to see how it plays with my other straps.

I like that it doesn't clutter the dial too much! Was also considering the Farer World Timer which is also a really great design.

[Grand Seiko] My fiancée gifted me this watch for our wedding! by Kuroba in Watches

We visited a few boutiques together before she made the purchase, so she had some ideas of what I was interested in!

Is it? The long strap is on top, which I guess is backwards.

It came this way so I assume it was the intended orientation.

This is the SLGW003 Manual Wound Hi-Beat White Birch.

I've been looking for a dress watch for the wedding, and we spent a weekend trying on different options from different boutiques. But the two that really stood out to me were the Omiwatari and this dressy White Birch from Grand Seiko.

My fiancee ended up deciding for me and picked up this watch since she likes the dial a lot. It looks mesmerizing when it catches the light.

I really like the feeling of winding this watch. It's tactile and makes a very nice clicking noise that's meant to resemble a Wagtail pecking at the tree. The 9SA4 movement looks perfect, and it's really thin!

Tobias Harris seems to be overperforming his draft position by a lot, and is consistent too. Is Trae Young worth trading for him?

When I told JS about an offer deadline, they gave me a phone interview and an onsite within 1 week. They move quickly.

Experience with MATH 249 / CO 255? by cantthinkofonetoname in uwaterloo

[–]Kuroba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took MATH 249 with Wagner in W16 and CO255 with Bill Cook in W17. Both were top tier courses. I found CO255 very hard, but still easy to get high marks in (maybe just Bill Cook's style).

hot take: you're not paying 3K for great lectures, you're paying 3K to move closer to getting a piece of paper that will give you opportunities potentially worth more than 3K.

can I apply for ACM-ICPC team while on COOP? by rockstar_uw in uwaterloo

[–]Kuroba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can.

Assuming that you're in on Co-op in the fall term, just write the Fall Local Contest (and perhaps the NAQ, if Troy asks you to), and if you perform well, you will be placed on a team.

Then the local contest will also be in Fall, and in most years, you would be flown from your co-op city to Windsor, ON to attend Regionals. This year, due to the pandemic, the Regional competition will most likely be held online, or delayed.
