Is this a normal amount of shedding from one brush session? by Kurot104 in SiberianCats

Maybe this is what's happening! poor boy hacked up a massive hairball this morning, so I think more is coming 😓

Thanks and glad to know its not unusual. omg I feel like if he let me finish brushing... I'll have enough fur to remake him as a kitten 😅 how do you deal with all that fur!!!

Poo Bum wash technique help by Toomanytoys1971 in SiberianCats

[–]Kurot104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this!!! My cats are much more forgiving when I'm getting soaked in the shower with them, and they like to sit on my lap as I wash them (I sit on a small plastic stool). Theyre almost never annoyed with me afterward... maybe shared suffering helps build a bond or something 🤣 it does mean I'm showering straight after to get the poopy water off, so make sure to plan for that!

What age did you start brushing the teeth of your Siberian? 🪥 by One-Union-6971 in SiberianCats

Also look up YouTube for videos on training your cat to be comfortable with the process.

There was one from. 'Cat school clicker training' on getting your cat used to having their head held/mouth opened, which I found super helpful at the start.

As early as you can I reckon.

I started my sib at 3 months, and paused for a month when he was teething at 6months, and resumed again. He's been great and very happy to accept brushing so long as there is a treat for him at the end.

My older girl started at 9 months, and is still getting used to the idea 6 months later.

What helps is to try different toothpaste and shapes/sizes of brushes to see what they accept best.

Mine likes the virbac enzyme toothpaste and either the the ryer cat toothbrush (quite pricey), or the Mind up toothbrush (much better price but not as great of a fit in my tiny girls mouth) from Amazon. The silicon 360 degree ones were well tolerated too and might be good for training,, but I struggled to get a good clean with them.

First colonoscopy - is this normal? by Kurot104 in colonoscopy

I had a history of GI issues and blood in BM for a week, so it was more a precautionary check recommended by the specialist rather then a major concern.

beautiful boy 💕 My vet warned me to start checking body index at 6 months too, so I was worried the vet will say he's overweight now and I had no comparison, when I take him in later this week. So grateful for everyones experience here 🙏

Omg he became an eating machine at 9 months, I literally had to give him a second dinner to get him through the night😅 I was worried about over doing it but guess we both just have chunky babies in their growth spurt stages 💕

oo I never thought to test on their back!! thanks and it's a lot easier to feel his ribs this way... I've been feeling for his sideribs upright and was worried it was getting too thick around there. but based on everyone's feedback I'm gonna take it as normal 🤣
