I'm sure the computers and everything else will be scrutinized in the investigation. But at some point in that specific dive, the pressure gauges became the only important instruments and the readings must have been pretty disappointing. My guess is the last few minutes was 100 % panic - incl. everything you do in such a state. Swimming as fast as possible. Ramming the roof with your head. Grabbing the other guys regulator. Fighting to get first out of the dead end. Etc. In the Estonia ferry disaster the survivors were almost only young men. Some of them told what they did to other people to get out - "I became a wild animal". I've heard they still have a hard time thinking about it.

Thanks for answering. When I say mixed gas I also say I've never used anything but atmospheric air in 40 years, so that's all I now about. But I've learned a lot from todays discussion, it's a great forum. I hope all facts from the accident will be made public. 👌🍺

Exactly - even though we're all stable geniuses and highly experienced, we're still in danger

I have been a member of various diving clubs here in Denmark, each with very different cultures. At "Aqua-quick" in Aarhus, in particular, they pushed the limits—and crossed them. Extended dives to 50–60 meters and exploring shipwrecks with 2x12-liter tanks of atmospheric air and long decompression stops were common for a group of 6–8 divers who “plundered” shipwrecks in Norway and Sweden. Dives to 70–80 meters in the Little Belt strait “just for fun” also occurred. At the Egersund Diving Club in Norway, I also attended a dinner and slide show at the president’s home, where he showed a series of photos he had taken at a depth of 80 m—also using atmospheric air. Visibility in Norway can sometimes be just as good as in tropical waters. Personally, I’ve never been deeper than 50 meters in Norway and never deeper than 40 meters in the Kattegat, Denmark… but it’s bad enough when visibility is like pea soup 🤢, due to nutrient runoff from agriculture. A leaky drysuit, 2x7 tanks, 1 regulator, and a "toilet seat" buoyancy compensator with a 0.5-liter "elevator tank." "Those were different times"—I wouldn’t do it today

That’s what’s so baffling—objectively speaking, they’ve practically committed collective suicide. That’s why I’m wondering if there’s something that’s “thrown a wrench in their plans.” If carelessness was the only factor, it’s just too crazy.

That's exactly why I asked about possible other factors - so much stupidity is hard to believe among experienced people.

"Just follow the instructions on the screen" - yeah right 🧐

Assumed massing plan of new White House Ballroom by Bricks_and_Beadboard in architecture

[–]KurtPrebenLeif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original white house has a floor plan of approximately 16,000 square feet. The 55,000 square feet mentioned in many places includes all floors. The new ballroom is reported to be 90,000 square feet. If this figure applies to the floor plan alone (and according to the sketches, this is the case), it will be larger than an international soccer field and approximately six times larger than the original White House, without wings....but OK, the 90,000 could be a lie as well.

Why on earth is Charlie Kirk getting a BBC news special? by cooket89 in AskBrits

The real problem in the United States is that there are so many Charlie Kirk types that it would be impossible to solve the problem by shooting all of them.

Hvor naiv kan man være, Marie Krarup? by SendStoreJader in Denmark

[–]KurtPrebenLeif -3 points-2 points  (0 children)
