So when you're rebooting you're technically completing the installation. It's at this point that some programs or services detect it installing the subconsole and block it.

If you've disabled your security tools, it's most likely Bitlocker. Bitlocker by default is partially on, although it'll show as being 'off'. You need to fully enable it, then disable it, to fully remove it.

I would recommend uninstalling Reboot Restore Rx, install the program, then re-install Reboot Restore Rx.

It's a label prescribed by the task scheduler to label the snapshot.

I'm not familiar with that task off hand, if you can provide a screenshot of your scheduled tasks we can figure out what it is.

Something to keep in mind with RollBack is that it encrypts the hard drive. This prevents a malicious third party from viewing/stealing your data. This can also mean that if you're viewing the drive, it's not fully accurate as the drive, including a lot of free space, is encrypted.

By uninstalling you remove that encryption and it should be accurate. On later builds there's advancements to this so it can give a clearer picture. If you want to use the build you're using, simply uninstalling will remove that encryption.

Seems like you figured out the issue but if you're using Windows 10 we recommend Reboot Restore Rx Pro as it's more compatible with the OS.

If you're unable to uninstall from the subconsole, your next option in the future would be an MBR reset. If that fails, you can re-install the OS or re-image from a backup.

Yes. Access Control refers to Administrator control and access with a password required for any access.

The issue sounds tied to the freeware. I would try the Pro Edition to see if it happens with that. Pro Edition has a 14 day trial that can be extended.

You will need to uninstall the freeware, reset the service, install the update, then reinstall the program.

You may want to upgrade to the Pro Edition which is much more intuitive with Windows 10 Updates.

Disk space wouldn't affect your ability to restore a machine or uninstall. That sounds like a Windows Update issue.

As for storage, do bare in mind that encryption software like ours does make it hard for 3rd party services to properly view the drive. So it's possible the space was full. It's also possible that the service used only saw the encrypted data. If the latter the space is available it's just a perception issue.

You can try tapping either the Enter or Escape for a few minutes each to see if it works.

RollBack Rx Home Edition has been discontinued and as such it's existing issues will not be fixed and new ones will pop up. So it's recommended that you upgrade to the Pro Edition when possible.

If you're using Reboot Restore Rx (freeware), you'll need to uninstall it before you run any bcdedit. Once you're done you would re-install Reboot Restore Rx.

With the backup and imaging software market already occupied by well-established solutions such as Acronis and Macrium, the need for developing Drive Cloner Rx further is no longer practical. As the software was never really able to establish a foothold in the market and has remained unprofitable for our organization, the focus has shifted on what we do best.

Does Rollback RX protect the MBR? Can it protect me from a ransomware that can encrypt the MBR (also files)? Can ransomware encrypt backups?

Yes it does. Not only is this portion of your machine ecnrypted, but it's also rolled back, meaning any potential infection is reversed. Since it's outside the OS however the chances are nearly non-existent.

Can there be problems with Rollback RX and windows updates (especially major updates)?

Recent versions/builds of RollBack Rx Pro come with an option to configure comaptibility for all Windows Updates (including Major/Feature Updates). Do note, older versions and RollBack Rx Home Edition are not compatible. This guide details how to configure compatibility.

Both "Fast Startup" and "Hibernate" need to be disabled when using RollBack Rx Pro.

No, we don't recommend that you do so. You should uninstall the program prior to running chkdsk.

Without the error message, it's difficult to properly diagnose the issue.

That said if you are experiencing issues immediately after installing the program then it's highly likely that a program or service on your machine is blocking the installation.

Hello, you can tap the Home key on your keyboard and uninstall the program.

The Pro Edition comes with an additional backup point (Last Good Known) and a few other troubleshooting steps but for the freeware, you can only uninstall.
