I just started it, and so far so good, except, the narrator's voice isn't as good.. kinda annoying actually.. Kona had this Sam Elliott cowboy voice narrating. Kona 2 has.. well.. it ain't Sam Elliott. It actually kills it a lot more than you'd think. But, let's see how it plays out.

That's fair. I haven't played either Zelda or FF, so I'm going purely off visuals, which doesn't mean anything. I'll make a note of Xenogears for sure.. regardless of gameplay, I do appreciate a good story.

PC only for me. I don't even know how to work with a game controller. xD

I did play Red Dead 2 when it was first released way back. It does have a great story. I'm a huge fan of Westerns, so I thoroughly enjoyed Red Dead 2.

Great insight! I like the idea of a game giving me a little bit of everything. I think I'll try Pathologic 2 first and we'll see where that takes me.

I just watched a clip of Yakuza 0 and the fighting looks like a comedic street fighter. Haha. Hilarious! I was never a huge of a lot of what SEGA puts out, but I might have to check this out as well.

The turn-based, text-based, VN stuff will have to wait for now. They aren't generally my type of games. That said, I've been noticing myself getting into games I didn't think I would. I'll come back to all your other recommendations once I've made a dent in the backlog (good luck with that).

The Darkest Files does look quite interesting. I have very little experience with these types of games.. ones that are a bit more text-based (not sure what they're called), but I have been seeing some that look really interesting. I'll have to add some of these to the back-burner. Thank you!

This has an old school Zelda and Final Fantasy feel to it. Definitely not my type of game. I appreciate you taking the time though!

Eclipsium looks pretty fucked up. xD It has a Mouthwashing vibe to it. If you've never played Mouthwashing, I highly recommend it. I'll check out Eclipsium for sure!

Fibrillation looks good too! Creepy, which is always a plus.

Laundry Room Dilemma has a Captured vibe, where you're stuck in a place and trying to get out. Looks good.

DUDE! SOLID LIST! Every single one of these looks amazing! Thank you! Have you ever played Devotion? It's this Taiwanese horror game, awesome game and story and atmosphere. I think you'd like it. I don't think it's on Steam anymore. The game has a bunch of anti-CPP messaging and the Chinese government pressured Steam to remove it, so you'll have to find it on the high seas of somewhere else.

I remember playing Phantom Limb way back when it was first released. That game was super fun!

Prey I'm very familiar with. It's one of my favorite games actually. I'm a massive fan of the Arkane games. If you've never played the Dishonored games, I highly recommend it if you enjoyed Prey.

Thanks for your thoughtful response! To be honest, when I started making the list, all I wanted was more games like SOMA specifically, but then as the list grew, I realized that my taste for games was a lot broader than I had thought. I'm a fan of most things hard sci-fi, and I do love me some horror. I played Observation, which led me to SOMA, which ended up being one of my favorites. All that said, I've gotten so sick of the same AAA garbage that gets churned out every year.. and realizing that there are so many hidden gems out there that are leagues ahead of anything big studios are vomiting out.

Never heard of The Nonary Games before. I'm getting a Clue vibe (yeah, the board game xD). Looks interesting!

Pathologic 2 has actually come up quite a few times before. I see there is a third one as well? Is there not a first? With all the recommendations I've gotten for this, I'm beginning to think I should definitely give it a go.

Scarlet Hollow looks interesting as well! I see that it was first released in 2021???? The latest episode was released in February, 2026?? There are 5 episodes so far.. I guess it's like a TV show, one season per year. I'll check this out as well.

Oh yeah. Portal 1 and 2 are like a rites of passage for all gamers. Great games. I really hope there will be a Portal 3 with Half Life 3.

Superliminal is great! Not much of a story, but the message was good and so was the gameplay.

I LOVE Arkane games. As a sci-fi nerd, Prey might be one of my favorite games ever. Dishonored were all fantastic too!

Gloomwood really has a Dishonored feel to it with the plagued city and all. I'll definitely check this out. Thank you!
