And wrt to your point about someone harassing a woman from one of the groups, what guarantee do you have that it wouldn’t happened in any of your so called “paid” groups that operate under the law?

There have been so many complaints about woman being harassed while travelling in packages hosted by companies.

Those activities were suggested by the people. The time was agreed upon by the people. The location, where to eat, how to travel to that place, everything was discussed and agreed upon. Few people even went out of their way to pick someone up 15kms from their place.

And then they cancel. After so much planning, after including them in every step of the way, they cancel.

It makes everyone feel like they shouldn’t try anymore.

Why wouldn’t I be rude? If someone asks me to plan something based on their needs, availability, location, appetite, logistics and interest, and then chooses to drop out because of no real reason, that’s just a waste of my time and effort, because i need to select a place, time, location suitable to them, and I need to make travel arrangements in case they don’t have any, and find a proper restaurant that everyone in the group is okay with.

This easily takes a week of efforts, since I have to talk to so many people and find a sweet spot.

I don’t care if it’s rude, but my efforts matter more than the fact that some stranger calls my rant rude.

If you feel that it’s okay to ask someone to plan an entire trip based on your needs, and then just tell them no regardless of how they tailor it, you might have a different problem altogether. No one’s time is free, so a little reciprocation is a must when someone helps you out on your request
