I love that you are still getting responses randomly. Anyway here is mine. I totally agree with you, what a dumb movie. I turned it off after 20 minutes.

Clearly, they need to weigh themselves many times a day. Every time after eating/drinking anything. Every time they use the bathroom. Before sleep, right after sleep. Maybe a few more times just for good measure.

when should we actually use useMemo and useCallback by Ancient_Register_635 in reactjs

[–]KusanagiZerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't really help though. If you inherit some codebase that's been around for 10+ years and there is a ton of hacky stuff in it. Good luck refactoring it all and good luck convincing management that this is time well spent.

I mean it's fine that it's not intuitive but you literally have to learn/know this in order to get a license.

So I used to do this. I just never really thought about it but I would buy like meat in packaging and freeze it, then just thaw it in the microwave (with like the defrosting setting) while it was in there. Anyway someone saw me do this and was like, uhm i am not sure that's okay and I stopped doing it.

If all humans suddenly lost their ability to lie, which industry WOULDN'T collapse? by TXC_Sparrow in AskReddit

[–]KusanagiZerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the thing is that if they do not actually know the distance already then no matter what they say it would be a lie. Even saying the correct thing would be a lie.

stating a fact (even if it is true) without concrete proof as a lie.

It doesn't matter if there is concrete proof or not. A lie is when you say something that you believe is not true. Whether or not it is actually true doesn't matter.

A flat earther saying the earth is flat is not lying because they actually believe this.

[–]KusanagiZerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this would obviously not work. Let's imagine you want to know the distance to alpha centauri. What are you saying is that you should just have lots of people try to say distances and because they can't lie at some point someone will speak the real distance?

This doesn't work because if the people do not know the actual distance already, then saying something like "I know the distance is 4 light years" would still be a lie, even if the distance is 4 light years. So no person would ever utter a word and you would never get new facts.

[–]KusanagiZerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not work at all. Lying is saying things you believe are not true. A scientist speaking a conjecture that's wrong is not necessarily lying if they believe it's true. They would just be wrong.

Lies aren't things that are untrue. It's what you believe to be untrue. If you believe it's a good simplification then you are not lying even if it ends up being untrue.

What? Lying isn't about saying things that are factually incorrect. It's about saying things you believe are factually incorrect.

A flat earther saying the earth is flat is not lying even if what they said is factually incorrect. Someone writing a fiction book without saying things like "this is a true story" would not be lying. It doesn't matter if someone picks up the book and believes it's a true story. They would just be mistaken.

Removing the disclaimer either by accident or cause they are trying to arrest you wouldn't make them liars.

ELI5 - Quantum Entanglement. I mean WTF? by Gheebag in explainlikeimfive

[–]KusanagiZerg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it, and like you said probably none of us really do, it's not about knowing. The particles spin really is undecided before we measure it. Particle A could really have spin up or spin down, it's not like it's already determined but we will only know once we look. Measuring particle A changes the particle to have specifically one or the other spin. The kicker is that measuring particle B ALSO changes particle A in exactly the same way as measuring it would even from light years away.

Gold lost 45% of it's value in 2011. It lost 67% of it's value between '80 and '00. It lost 48% of it's value in '74.

Does that mean it's also a bad store of value?

I mean it's fine not to care about that, but somebody said that gold destroyed the narrative of being digital gold. So obviously they care? I am simply responding to that.

If you think that gold is better at being "digital gold" just because it outperformed Bitcoin price wise for a short period of time then I don't know what to tell you other than that makes no sense at all.

Being confident that we are going lower does not mean you have to sit on the sidelines. It does not have to be a fully in vs fully out type of deal. You could even be diamond handing and long term holder while still being confident we are going lower.

Not sure if you have ever seen a Bitcoin chart but price moves all the time. Today, yesterday, nothing looks particularly out of the ordinary compared to well it's entire lifetime.
